He saw a girl with wavy black hair twiddling her thumbs at an empty table, waiting for a customer. "Excuse me," he called out politely. "Do you work here, ma'am?"
Max walked up to the door of the trinket shop in town. Before he went in, he checked his watch. Wow, he thought. I still have an hour before the store opens. He strolled around for a while, wondering what to do with his hour. Suddenly, he found a tea shop. It looked cosy, so he ventured in.
{Wow, Serena has feelings for Max? This love octagon is VERY complicated! We're very good at that, it seems. XD}
When Max awoke in the morning, he was greeted by the fiery orange and yellow sun, shining through his window. He sat up and stretched his arms, squinting in the brilliant light. It reminded him again of Bella's eyes, and how they had looked near the golden sun...Max imagined her waking up now... How he wished he were with her now, to see her beautiful eyes again, her innocent, angelic nature.
He would have loved to just be lost in his daydreams forever, forgetting reality. But had things to do. He had to go to work in the little trinket shop in the Town Square. He had managed to find work there a few years back, and made decent enough pay. So off he headed to the Town Sqare, reluctant to leave his daydreams, but knowing he had to keep his thoughts away from the girl he could never have.
{"Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars --points of light and reason....And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything."}{One of my favorite New Moon quotes!!! I just HAD to post this. He he... Princess BELLA!!! Sorry, all non Twilight fans out there...}
{Hmmm... I'll have to check that out XD Hey, in about 10 minutes I'm leaving to go out to dinner for my dad's b-day. But I'll be on later on tonight. Kay? ;~)}
{Wow! Most people at my school are either late Hunger Games readrrs or they're reading this book, Divergent. I don't even know what that's about!}
{OHMYGOSH!!!!!!! Really? That's fantabulous! Nobody else I know besides my dad even knows it exists!! :D :) XD}
Max sat at his house window. He watched as the waves raced up towards the dunes, only to be pulled back into the ocean again. The sound of the rushing water was calming. Max was no longer angry. He had no room in his mind for anger. He could think of nothing but Bella, and of his undying love for her that was not supposed to exist. Suddenly, he turned around to see Jink sitting behind him. He bowed his head in shame and apology. "I am sorry Max," he thought. "I should never have suggested that. Your love for this girl is very great. I realize that now." He looked up at Max, his eyes glowing green. "You are so responsible with the gift you've been given. There could be no person who deserves it more than you."
Max gazed at him sadly. "Thank you, Jink. I forgive you. But this manipulative power that I have is no gift. It is an evil thing that I have managed to make the best of." He stroked Jink's fur.
Soon after, Max fell asleep. His thoughts wandered, though they always came back to Bella.
{It's called Lyra's Oxford. I'm in the middle of reading this book, The Amber Spyglass. It's the last in The Golden Compass series and Lyra's Oxford is like an after-series book. My dad read them all but Lyra's Oxford. He's the one who got me into them. :)}
{Thanks!!! XD}Max got up and brushed the grass off himself. "Let's go home, Jink," he said. (Home to his small house near the shore.)
"What do you plan to do about the girl and this... predicament," Jink thought, as they walked throught the moonlit forest.
"What are you talking about," Max demanded. "She's chosen Owen. He closed his eyes. "There is nothing I can do."
"Yes, you can," Jink replied. He nodded toward Max's eyes. "Owen would never know."
Max exploded in fury. "NEVER," he growled. "That will NEVER be an option." His voice turned solumn. "I would never hurt Bella like that."
Then he ran through the forest, leaving Jink behind in the darkness.
