42178 Finish Already... Damn!
My Year 2025 in Books

I have two main goals and one secondary goal this year:

1. Read a minimum of 72 titles [63 of 72]
(My average from 2011 through 2024 was 63)

2. Get caught up on or complete as many previously started series as I can:
[01] Up to Date:
~ The Stormlight Archive

[04] Completed
~ Cradle
~ The Vorkosigan Saga
~ Species Imperative
~ Ghost Roads

3. Read my physical bookshelf: [12 of approx. 140] = ~ 8.6%

Notes:
- Series bracketed by * are priorities. I have been trying to finish them for a few years.
- If a series is listed with a "?," it's because I am unsure whether to mark it as Up to Date or Finished

42178 I'm so happy to hear that your mom is improving!!!

Continued luck with the repairs.

That sucks about losing your daily progress, but you had more important things to worry about at the time. Now, you get to set a new challenge for yourself. :)

I am wishing you and yours a very Happy, Healthy Holiday Season!

42178 I may give Ellie Jordan a try.

As for cross stitching, it has emphasized how poor my eyesight has become, even with my glasses. So, I'm now looking for a magnifying light. In the meantime, I'm practicing with plastic cross-stitching sheets instead of cloth to see the holes.

42178 I'm glad you had a great month! :)

What are the names of your two discoveries?

I'm hoping to start a new hobby this weekend: cross-stitching. My daughter found two starter packs for me to try, and I'm excited to give it a try.

42178 Did they update something on the site? I just realized I was not notified of either of your posts!

42178 We applied for FEMA but were told to go through our Renters Insurance policy first, so I started a claim.

We were told that if we 1. get rejected or 2. get too small a settlement, we can go through FEMA.

My cousin and I ended up evacuating early Tues morning so I'm in North Carolina but my mom is still in Leesburg hospital...."

Hi Christa! Sorry about the carport, but I'm glad you're okay.

We were without power from late Wednesday / Early Thursday until this afternoon. We lost all of our food, which is upsetting, a piece of siding came off of the house, and it seems our oven died, but other than that, we're okay. :)

Just really happy to have A/C and warm water.

That's completely understandable! I wish you both the best.
We're also keeping an eye out, of course, especially since the current ETA is this Wednesday, and they're not sure what part of the state will be impacted yet.

Stay safe!!

42178 The training ended on Wednesday, and we started Nesting (the transition between training and production) on Thursday. On Thursday and Friday, we only handled calls for about an hour to 90 minutes.

Our entire class received all of our licenses on time, but we're now waiting to be officially appointed to the campaign. Agents must be appointed to a specific insurance company before being allowed to work on policies. Meanwhile, we're taking billing calls until the various appointments come through.

Regarding reading, my daughter and I are finishing the original Mistborn trilogy and will decide whether to continue the series. It's been an intense journey, and we like many characters. Sadly, we already know it has a (view spoiler) type ending, and we're just wondering how it will all come to a close.

I'm also finishing the Nightrunner series, which I am enjoying. There is a prequel trilogy (starting with The Bone Doll's Twin) that I was going to read with my biddy-reading group, but I found the first book disturbing, so I opted out.

I'm not sure what I will read next. Ever since iOS 17, I've been having trouble downloading and pairing audiobooks with Kindle books. So, I will upgrade to iOS 18 and hope that resolves the issue.

42178 Christa, I hope your mom stabilizes and will recover quickly.

42178 I'm sorry Sylvester is not doing well (((Hugs)))

Congrats and best wishes with the audiobooks!

I hope you enjoyed all of them!

42178 Thanks! I’ll be doing property and casualty, starting with auto coverages. Once I’ve mastered that, I should have the opportunity to up-train to homeowners coverages.

We have to learn all of it to test for our license, so the up-training will be system-specific and a refresher.

The licensing exam was challenging, but I passed it the first time, so I’m thrilled. A few of my coworkers had to take it again, and the company would not pay for a third.

The other cool thing is that they help you apply to every state. I’m waiting for my last three to come in. I’m told California takes the longest.

42178 I think my dad used to watch Gunsmoke.

It’s awesome when you find something you truly enjoy!

Have fun! :)
