4170 Just discovered that there is a Cowboy Bebop novel! Cowboy Bebop: A Syndicate Story: Red Planet Requiem by Sean Cummings. Apparently it's a prequel to the story told in the Netflix tv series. So I ordered a copy.

4170 The U.S. Military Is Turning to Science Fiction to Shape the Future of War by Andrew Liptak

https://onezero.medium.com/the-u-s-mi...

I subscribe to Liptak's newsletter on science fiction where he reprinted this article from 2020. What's really interesting is that he links to novels and collections of short stories about war in the future. Many are free downloads or available to read online. For those interested in what war may look like in our future.

You never know who you might learn has authored one of these choos-your-own-path books. It was years before I found out that Michael J. Dodge was actually John M. Ford.

4170 What comes to mind when I think of a SF chosen one, with special abilities, and a story told in a series of books, is Venus Prime.

"Venus Prime is a series of science-fiction novels written by Paul Preuss and based upon stories written by Sir Arthur C. Clarke. They tell the story of Sparta, a young woman with superhuman abilities, her search for the truth about her origins, and her battle against the cult known as the Free Spirit."

I read these years ago and I probably picked them up because of the striking cover art of the original paperbacks. There was a tv adaptation in development at some point.
