40148 This is the list of poems as they appear in the edition I purchased. I believe it is the same edition listed above. If you are going to discuss a specific poem it will be helpful to list the poem title first, prior to beginning any comment. Page number may not be of any use since there are so many editions and collections of Dickinson's poems. This hopefully will make it easier for other members to refer to the poem and better understand what you’re commenting on.

40148 Enjoyed the review. I too, have read all three sisters, and agree, Anne is the best, at least for me.

40148 I can't believe the year is half over. You do have this well in hand, glad your enjoying them.

40148 I've read Country of the Blind twice in the last month. It's amazing and thought provoking. I may read it again sometime, I'm sure to get something I missed the first times through.

As for Soft Rains, I've read it many times and I don't think I will ever forget the image of the shadows on the wall.

40148 This is a nice list of both fiction and non-fiction given to us my Laurie in message #2, https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~immer/b...

If you have access to another list and prefer to use that list, it works just as well. My main thought when creating this challenge was to get an idea of what authors were writing about, that readers thought worthy enough to buy in large enough quantities to make a best selling list.

As for Angela's Ashes being published the year prior to your birth, if like the example of Peyton Place, it made a best selling list during the year you were born use it.

40148 Congratulations!! I know it feels good to finish and you had some great books on your list. I hope things normalize and you can see your granddaughter as often as you want. I know certain family members more susceptible need to be protected. I'm overly cautious with my mother, but I'm glad my kids lightened up protecting us from the grandkids. We have had them over night some, a far cry from not seeing them at all. The phrase "new normal" when first coined, was never as scary as it is now.
40148 Terry since you liked Lonesome Dove, you might like something else by Larry McMurtry. The Last Picture Show is not the cowboy type western but defiantly western flavor. Another of his is Horseman, Pass By. The movie Hud was based on this book, it was also McMurtry's first book.

40148 Having read it last month I can give two thumbs up for Glimpses of the Moon.

40148 The challenge is to read five of the top ten best-selling books the year you were born. The exception is a book published late in the year prior to the year you were born and didn't become a best-seller until your birth year. Example from message one, Peyton Place was published in 1956 it wasn't a best-seller till 1957.

If you are planning to use other popular selling books sold during the same time frame as illustrated above, I guess one can consider that keeping to the spirit of the original challenge. Using books published other than the year just before and the year of your birth, wouldn't be keeping to the concept of the challenge.

40148 Always use the date the book was originally published. A Clockwork Orange was published in 1962. The 50th anniversary edition publish in 2012 doesn’t mean you can’t use it, but it is a book from 1962 not 2012. By the way, many of our challenges are not hindered by the group’s cutoff date of 1999.

As for The Popol Vuh use your best judgement, categorize it the way it benefits you the most.

As to the cost of books, I too don’t have excessive disposable money for expensive books. I use my library and I hunt Goodwill stores, thrift stores, used book stores, and online free sources for books I’m interested in. Sometimes a book I want is just not available, especially at a price I can afford. Many times I have to choose something other than the book I wanted. My advice, be flexible and patient, and never stop looking.

40148 Good luck and have fun. Glad you liked Trustee from the Toolroom by Nevil Shute, he is a real favorite of mine. Sadly his books can be hard to get
