My last book for a blackout is
Bastard Out of Carolina. Only about 100 pages left but I've been procrastinating, it's to interesting to abandon, but I'm not deeply invested. I started it before The Blind Assassin, which is now finished and I have read three-quarters of The Glimpses of the Moon. Need to just finish this one up. I'll focus on it today and tomorrow

Congrats! A little over halfway for a blackout, it's all downhill from here.

Maybe every book from here on out will be a bingo!

My Review"I read this many years ago and have never really left it behind. I remember disliking Harry. But when I see the title I always think about it and wonder if I missed something. Your review indicates maybe I should revisit it.

I now have four books to go b..."I'm happy you liked it, your review is beautiful, well done.

I'm glad you have joined us Tolleen, Welcome!!

Welcome Mahsa!

Ah Sue, I can’t speak to the Mambo Kings, but I did read The Shipping News. Like you I read it many years after it was the thing. I liked it, but not enough to write a review. I simply gave it 3 stars and moved on. I need to check the few Pulitzers I’ve read and see how they have rated for me. I like to think, that other than Goon Squad, they rate above average.

Congrats Terry! I've read a few and Silas Marner and Stoner were for me excellent. don't worry about columns B and O they will become Bingo soon.

Congrats, the first one is always the hardest.

Thanks for the review on Buddenbrooks, it's one I have pondered from time to time. Your review keeps it firmly in the hunt.
Sara wrote: "Brina wrote: "On balance, they won a Pulitzer for a reason, so even if they don't sound marvelous I want to read them all..."I too believed that the prestige of the award meant that the book was better than normal. Then I read
A Visit from the Goon Squad, now I have doubts and question everything. I will give any Pulitzer that comes my way a try, but I will invoke my new principle of casting it away if it doesn't grab me quickly. I still question how Visit could win, but I don't flow with the main stream.
Congrats for reading so many, I hope you keep checking them off steadily. I've managed to read 18 and own 8 more, time that's all I need.

Joy, Welcome to the group!!

Shakespeare and I have an oil and water relationship, we don't mix well. But I agree Othello was good, glad you enjoyed it.

I've been lucky with my reading this year too. More five star reads this year than in the last two years combined. Glad things are going well for you.

I agree A Jury of Her Peers is remarkable. I enjoyed your review.
Sara wrote: "Completed B2: A Classic Tragedy A Death in the Family. Finished late last night and still trying to gather my thoughts."I had hoped for more, but was not left disappointed. It's well written and emotional, yet it didn't rip my heart out as expected. I read the sadness, I didn't feel it. Still a really good book.

Lisa, Hello and welcome

It won't be long, till you can stick a fork in it and focus on another.

I saw your earlier discussion with Aubrey and Katy, and I'm glad you decided to start a challenge. I do hope you enjoy it.
