Lonesome Dove, a true five star, and a favorite on mine. Glad you liked it.

I have read a fair amount of London’s work and yes, I think a lot of time he is making a comment on society.

I'm reading the last two for a blackout on card #1. Bastard Out of Carolina is about half finished and I started The Blind Assassin this morning. I hope to finish in two weeks give or take, BOoC is somewhat slow, but based on this morning Assassin my go fast.
Card #2 is at 14/25 No Bingo.

Pippin, hello and welcome!

Congrats again, The Black Tulip was one of my favorites last year.

Welcome Keshav

You really are doing well, and thanks for the Nevil Shute lead, he is a true favorite of mine.

The alphabet challenge, for me at least, is without a doubt the hardest.

Katy wrote: "N5: The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk"For me this was a 5 star blast, an excellent book!!

Congratulations, except for Oliver Twist, all of your challenge 4 reads are new to me, now I need to explore. Good luck on the rest.

Yes, the more the merrier.

Yes, you can start a challenge anytime you want.

Anita, welcome to the group!!

I was hooked on Jonathan Swifts satirical ability when I read about how Gulliver put out the palace fire. I laughed out loud, I hardly ever do that, it attracts attention and I'm low key and soft spoken. :)
I can't be sure, but I can't remember hearing the words "debate team or society" for years. I don't think it was around when my kids were in high school. I say that because my oldest most likely would have joined, he would argue with a rock. I agree that we need open dialogue and opposing opinions being freely and openly discussed.
For me terms like "safe space," trigger words," hate speech," don't have a place in a free society. If you are for a position state your position, then have the courtesy to listen to the opposite side.

Congrats on your first Bingo

Just finished my 8th book for Challenge #1 - Old & New TBR Clean-up. That equals the number finished during all of last years challenge. So much better this year, who knows I may even finish it this year.
By the way my 8th book was
The Moonstone. I can't understand how I past this by all these years, it's great!

I've jumped the gun and have already read this and immediately followed up by rereading Call of the Wild. I think both are great, I'm looking forward to the discussion
