Yep, this is fine. Brooklyn is a city with a US zipcode. :-)

Hi Colleen: I'm not sure if I understand your question. You can read as many books in as many different series as you like. You'll only get the incremental increase in Series Style points when you claim points for books in the SAME series. (Is that what you were asking?)

Quoted from the Series Style Point description: "Read a book to complete a task that is part of a series and receive 5 points. Read a book from that same series to complete another task and receive 10 points...and so on."

Using the example you provided above, each of those books would earn 5 Series Style points because they were from different series.

If you were able to work 2 or more books from the same series in then the Series points start going up.

For Example: (Using hypothetical task numbers)
10.1 The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Book 1) = 5 Series Style Points

20.9 The Girl Who Played with Fire (Book 2) = 10 Series Points.

Let me know if you need more info, or if this wasn't really the thrust of your question.

Okay, I've added this as an Isreali author in your column.

Hi Miss GP: What type of traveler are you, Constant or Time Leaper?

Also if you could remember to include the date range for the task number, and the book's original publication year when claiming RtT points, that will save me some time when posting the points.

I think I'm going to need all the time I can get with all the new participants this season. :-) Thanks!

Liz is right. The word "Ghost" doesn't have to appear in the title. For Parts A & B it's not an approved title word. For Part C - a ghost has to be a main character in the plot. (See Sam's Msg #19)

36119 Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "How do you feel about "The Joy Luck Club" for this task? It was published in 1989. The boy takes place partly in Japan and partly in the US. I think the author is US author."

Amy Tan is an American author. The book was published during the years allowed for the task, so it can be used for this task. It will count as a book from an American author. If you repeat this task, you cannot use another book by an author from the US.

Hi Elizabeth: I'm not Sam...but I think it's okay for the Series style points to claim points for books in the middle of a series. As long as it's part of a series then it counts for the Series Style points.

Not only might you start reading a book from the middle of a series, but you might have read earlier books in the series before this challenge started.

Liz, how did you like this book? I too found this is my searches for likely reading candidates for Task 10.1, but I couldn't tell much about it from the GR blurb. At least my library has a copy of it. I'd be interested to hear what you thought about it. Thanks!

36119 Karen GHHS wrote: ,,,I'm finding those combo points more challenging this time so far! ..."

I agree! I'm looking for more foreign books this challenge so I can get those 10 LiT Style points. I don't think that I'm going to do RtT unless folks post some interesting books that I haven't read yet for the early book eras. So all the other Style points become more important.

Ah so wise! I'm always on the lookout for those elusive Combo points. Can't claim Combo points for "Demon" and task 20.1. Thanks for the reminder that we can use "Demon" for task 10.1.

Correct. If you found a different task for this book (not easy, I know) then you'd earn 10 Series style points because you've already claimed Series style points for 1 book in this series.

Nope, no Canon, LiT etc. points. However, as a Constant Traveler, you'll receive a 10 point bonus per book for books 2-10 read in chronological sequence in the time series.

Oops, a little math error in this message.
Total Task points = 25 (not the 30 shown)
