35559 ***PLEASE READ***

GOOD MORNING TEAM!!! I am running late for work today because I don't want to go to there I wanted to check in with my teeeaaam!!!

We have all done SUCH AN AMAZING JOB this week!!! We have one week under our belts in this Tower Teams IV challenge and I couldn't be happier to be a part of Team Moirai. You guys are truly fantastic :)

I have added a new little message in one of my reserved spots on page 1! It is going to be where I put the Weekly Status Update.

***That does imply that the message will be changed and updated weekly to reflect our Total Books Read, Total Goals Completed, Overall Score, Our Standing (or place) in the Tower Teams IV Challenge, and Our Standing (or place) Among the Five Greek Teams.

We are in a really good place, friends :) Keep reading your hearts out!!! As always, please keep posting all books read in the BOOKS READ thread.

Don't be surprised if I'm a little chattier tomorrow, as my best friend (and roommate) is moving to another state, which will turn me into a sobbing emotional wreck.
35559 Discussion Questions - Chapters 5-7 (Day 3)

13) Now that we're almost a third into the story, how are you enjoying it?

I love it. I think the material is very disturbing and emotionally draining (I feel exhausted after I listen to a chapter), but it keeps me on the edge of my seat. It's terrifying. I don't know about you, but being kidnapped is one of my greatest fears.

14) Why do you think Adam is pushing so much for the files Paul had? Do you think it has anything to do with the embezzling or the videos Claire found?

Right off the bat, I think we are made to feel like Adam has a part in this, which makes me think he doesn't and he's just an angry ex-partner. But now I fear I'm overanalyzing because I'm SO ON EDGE!

15) What do think of Captain Mayhew? Did you think his asking about all the possible places copies of the videos could be was suspicious?

I don't trust Mayhew AT ALL, but I do feel like I can trust Nolan. I feel like the whole sexist pig act is just that, an act. He might use that technique with female suspects to get them bothered and irritated enough to start spilling information. I mean, he's in the FBI for crying out loud. He's not an idiot!

16) Why do you think Paul had Lydia under surveillance every year? Do you think he was obsessing after the one that escaped from him or that he felt guilty for what he tried to do?

Control. She's the one that got away. Maybe he was even planning to hurt her.

17) Do you think the videos that Claire found are real? If so, who do you think is the man in them (since Claire ruled out Paul)?

Oh they are real. I have no doubt about that. And I think this is larger than a two man job. This is giving me weird twisted fraternity/cult/brotherhood crap vibes.
35559 @Anna I hadn't even THOUGHT about Rick in all this!!!! Nooooo I like him too much to let that be a possibility haha
35559 Discussion Questions - 13 Nov

8) the opening scene between Paul and Claire indicated they had a happy marriage but it seems that there were many secrets in Claire's life with Paul, do you think they were as happy together as it seemed at the start?

I don't think so. I read ahead so I feel like I need to zip my lip about it.

9) what do you think Claire had done to have an ankle monitor and now be on parole?

I can see Claire having one of those rage blackout tempers. Where she is like creepily calm and simply attacks someone out of the blue.

10) Do you think the burglary of her house had anything to do with her husband's murder?

Absolutely. This is a thriller novel. Why would they include something like a break-in if it had nothing to do with the mystery plot?

11) What are your thoughts about the video Claire found?

NASTY! If her husband was into BDSM that's one thing. Whatever, he watches porn. But MURDER porn?! No. NO NO NO.

12) Given Lydia's history of lying, stealing and drug abuse, do you think it was understandable that her family didn't believe her about Paul's assault years ago?

I don't think it's UNDERSTANDABLE but I see how it could happen. I think this little detail in the storyline is a massive statement on modern culture. Why do we allow "character witnesses" in the court of law? This is a *fictional* example, but example nonetheless, of how one's perceived character can be the polar opposite of their actual persona. This is ANOTHER prime example of how stigmatized rehabilitated ex-convicts and addicts are no matter how much time has passed since their incarceration/no matter how long they've been sober. Ok I'll get off my soapbox now. Can you tell this is something I feel very strongly about?
