35559 I can always read Seeing Red after I finish No Country for Old Men. I wasn't really in the mood, but it's for the good of the team! hahaha

35559 EXCELLENT NEWS

I asked the Mods if Think and Grow Rich could be used for the short stories goal since TECHNICALLY the goal did not ask for a book "OF" short stories but "WITH" short stories. They said oooo tricky tricky Brie (that's a lie, I'm just assuming they HAD to have thought that) and allowed me to count it!

SO:

1. Read a book WITH short stories -- Think and Grow Rich (Valentin)

2. Read a book with a preposition in the title -- The Girl in the Spider's Web (Farhad)

3. NEW GOAL Read a book where a character is a cat shifter

Please do not misread "cat shifter" at a quick glance and mistake it for something else (like I did) teeheehee

Unfortunately, I already used The Looking Glass Wars towards a goal. Anyone reading anything with cat shifters???

YAAAAAAAY! Megan, I have noticed that most of the books that have a "New Adult" tag on the main Goodreads page are romance novels. Any chance you have any on your shelf that are tagged New Adult that you would be willing to read as our romance aficionado?
35559 Discussion Questions November 18 Chapters 13-16

28.What was your reaction when Claire confirmed the masked man was Paul? Were you surprised?

Not at all. I KNEW there had to be some way it was Paul. I thought all that mole talk was just b/s I just didn't know how he hid it.

29. We learn that Claire's dad did not like Paul. What questions do you think Claire's dad wanted to ask him? (end of chapter VI in my version--the mini chapter before chapter 15)

He probably wanted to ask him about his father. Claire's dad was very smart so I highly doubt that he would have come straight out and been like WAS YOUR DAD A STALKER?! I honestly think that Claire's dad is the only character I like at this point...he breaks my heart.

30. Do you think Rick will become involved or take Dee and run?

I mean...I kind of want him to become involved. It would up the ante a bit for me. But he's probably going to take Dee and run because he is the only smart character left.

31. What is your opinion of Claire at this point?

Stupid...and that's putting it nicely. If I hear the phrase "holding onto a fraction of hope" or some form of that phrase one more time regarding her and Paul I'm going to lose my sh**. Get the **** over it. Also, HOW SELFISH DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO REMAIN TRULY OBLIVIOUS OF HIS ACTIONS FOR EIGHTEEN YEARS?! Long story short, I cannot stand her.

32. Will Lydia and Claire get out of this "nightmare" (for lack of a better word) alive?

I want Claire to die. I'm not talking horrible disgusting death, I'm talking more self-sacrifice "save my sister" kind of death. Sorry 'bout it......

33. Your thoughts on chapter 16?

CAN'T LYDIA JUST HAVE A WIN! This is disgusting and unnecessary. I've thought this about this book several times already. Many of these scenes and graphic chapters are unnecessary and there purely for shock value. They have no meaning and do nothing to further the story. Sometimes, true terror comes from the unknown. Stephen King is the perfect example of a horror/thriller writer who has perfected the art of effectively bone-chilling simplicity.

35559 My team has the goal "Read a book with short stories."

I noticed it did not state "OF" short stories, soooo would the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich count for said goal if this is part of its Goodreads synopsis?

In the original Think and Grow Rich, published in 1937, Hill draws on stories of Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other millionaires of his generation to illustrate his principles. In the updated version, Arthur R. Pell, Ph.D., a nationally known author, lecturer, and consultant in human resources management and an expert in applying Hill's thought, deftly interweaves anecdotes of how contemporary millionaires and billionaires, such as Bill Gates, Mary Kay Ash, Dave Thomas, and Sir John Templeton, achieved their wealth. Outmoded or arcane terminology and examples are faithfully refreshed to preclude any stumbling blocks to a new generation of readers.
