35559 Also, if you can, please make a note of the quote that includes "topaz" so that I can mark that down when I declare the goal.

"my hands were tied"

When you finish we will use it toward the "topaz" goal because I think that one is going to be more difficult to fulfill.

35559 It can say "hands were tied" as long as the meaning is still the same.

The ruling I got from the Mods is: Either it has to be verbatim ("hands are tied" as in "hands are tied behind her back") or the meaning has to be the same ("there was nothing more that could be done, his hands were tied").

35559 GOAL UPDATE

1. Read a book with a zombie -- Magic Bites (Erin)

2. Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as wishlist - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable -- The Prince (Valentin)

NEW GOAL Read a book that has the birthstone "Topaz" in the text or title

35559 Aaaaaaand The Bone Clocks included the phrase, as did A Spool of Blue Thread...this is just getting hurtful!

Anybody planning to re-read Catching Fire or Mockingjay?

What about Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children or Library of Souls

Well I'm SURE you all know this trick and I'm way behind, but if you go to Amazon and you go into the book section, type "hands are tied" into the search engine and all the books that contain that phrase in the title or in the text pop up. They even give you the quote in an excerpt on the right. What a fun new trick!

35559 OF COURSE The Girl in the Spider's Web had that phrase in it...oh well.

I'm still on the hunt for any books that contain "hands are tied"

35559 Ok so Megan is awesome and completed our cat-shifter goal!

However, our new goal is "Read a book with the phrase 'hands are tied' in the book" and I have no clue how to figure out if any of our Goalless Books have this phrase or how to even find a book that DOES.

Help me please :(

Nicely done! I've used 3 of your completed reads toward goals. Keep up to date with my Goal Updates because I will list about 6 in a row sometimes and put the book used (and the teammate who completed it).

If you look under your name's tab on the spreadsheet you will see whether or not your books have been "Used" toward a goal. If you look under the GOALS tab you will see which goals they were used toward.

35559 I'm gonna try to read Blackout: Remembering the Things I Drank to Forget this weekend. It will take care of the 5 of the same vowel goal.
