35559 For Over the Hill, Option 2, does a book count as "published over 40 years ago" if a particular translation/edition is more recent? (GR lists both dates on the book's page)

35559 I'm thinking of reading either The Fellowship of the Ring (I want to reread this sometime soon anyway - one of the book groups I'm in is rereading the trilogy this month and next) or Julius Caesar (which I want to read sometime in the next few months - it's one of the plays at the local theater this year, until October.)
May 12, 2017 11:51PM

35559 Done! I was planning to read it anyway - one of my group reads is The Landmark Thucydides: A Comprehensive Guide to the Peloponnesian War and this is set during those events.

I enjoyed it, mostly. I'll see if I can find a video version (I found a good one of Lysistrata on YouTube once, but I haven't looked for this one yet...)
May 12, 2017 10:00PM

35559 Starting the play The Acharnians right now. (I'm reading the version from poetryintranslation.com). It is 78 pages in MS Word, so I should finish pretty soon.
May 12, 2017 12:54PM

35559 Yesterday I read The Island. It's a short story- 40 pages - but it's listed separately on GR:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...

So I think it will count - I might as well claim an I & add it to the spreadsheet, let me know if I'm wrong.

35559 I think I could find something to read for most European countries, if we're doing author/setting. But I think for the next few weeks I will try to start picking shorter books for this challenge, since I have some group reads that I want to catch up on soon.
