Thank you for your assistance

35559 My first 2 chunky books will be:

Horror Films of the 1980s - 1,615 pages
UXL Encyclopedia of World Mythology - 1,231 pages

Will we need to strategise or say what letters each of us intends to do?

Thank you for your kind words.

I used to play classical all the time as a child & teen, where I'd play in various local orchestras (like band camps or in the pit at musicals). I stopped playing for about 20 years. Then when covid hit & I started working from home, I picked it up again to play in my breaks.

I find I can't read music anymore, but I can now play along to any music that I listen to, by ear. And that can be in any genre. I'm particularly fond of playing along in a jazzy or funky style.

35559 Nice to meet you Elisabeth. I also play the clarinet! 😎

35559 Oh also, I just want to add that my intent isn't to be competitive or make anyone feel less-than, in relation to my reading habits.

I just have a passion for learning new things & becoming a better human than my past self. For instance, I can speak a few languages now; the one I'm currently studying is Russian.

35559 Karen - Yes, I started reading when I was 2 years old. I don't think I've stopped since. 😆

Mel - I like reading a range of different non-fiction subjects:
Biography, business, cooking, geography, health, history, leadership, mythology, philosophy, psychology, pop culture, productivity, relationships, science, sociology, technology...

This is one of my fave non-fiction series:
https://www.goodreads.com/series/6482...

I have a huge collection of ebooks, so I can usually find a book that fits any task. That is, unless the task is specifically fiction (ie Historical Fiction, Romance, Fantasy, YA, etc)

Great to meet you all! 🤓

Oh & my timezone is UTC+10.

35559 I don't think anyone is inferior...I think we're all valid. 🙃

Hi peeps. Richard's the name, reading's the game. 43, from Albury, Australia.

I only like to read non-fiction & am currently reading around 2,000 pages a day. If you're wondering on how I can read so much, I have a neurological thing called "Hyperlexia". 🤓

That means I average at least 120 books a month. So for this challenge, I'll just post 30 of the chunky &/or old books I read each month.

This is my bookshelf for the challenge:

I'm absolutely fine with contributing less than what I normally read. So it'd be 30 per round for me.

35559 Rules:

1.) Each monster has a set of required tasks that must be completed in order to vanquish the monster.

2.) Books can be used to complete more than one task, but only for the same monster. If you can find a single book that meets all five tasks, congratulations, you defeated the monster with just one book! Expect other teams to notice this and copy your choice ;)

3.) You can have up to 5 monsters to vanquish at any time.

4.) Monsters are assigned at random and may be repeated by the same individual.

5.) We like players to be creative, that's what makes this fun. However, please do not hurt yourself over thinking the tasks. If there still is some indecision, post in the Q&A thread or just find a different book.

6.) Once you vanquish a monster and get a replacement it should be considered locked and you cannot swap out books.
