Anyone know any sites I can try for free audiobooks? I'm not a great fan of listening to books, but I thought I might give them a try for this challenge.
Vi wrote: "Oh HNY is similar to Om Shanti Om, right? If it is, I'm sitting it out. Are the songs good?"Yes, it is quite like Om Shanti Om. In fact, almost the entire cast and crew is same, so it felt like watching Part II of the movie, with a slightly different story. The songs are nice - they make for good dance numbers.

Oh Sanz, that sounds Divine. What movie are you seeing?"Just a Bollywood flick called Happy New Year. It's what you expect from any Bollywood movie - loads of drama, colourful sets, much music and dance and a huge star cast. Was fun watching it with my family.

My part of the world is inching towards cooler months after three months of really humid weather. It's quite nice to have a cool sea breeze wafting through in the evenings, when I'm sitting on the rooftop, curled on my favourite cozy chair with a book in my hand.
Haven't gotten much reading done so I don't think I'm going to finish any books. I do have plans to go out with my folks for a movie later tonight, so it'll be more than a lazy weekend.

I'm planning to buddy read
Outlander as I've been putting it off for quite some time. I think I've booked myself till the year end with all that I plan to read. I've always been a moody reader so I'm not sure how all this planning will work out. But I think this challenge might be a great way for me to get all those "intimidating" books read.

Me wants in on this.

So much for being a snooper.

I'm in for this. I began reading this a few years ago, abandoned it, took it up again after a while, read it about half-way through and gave it up again. It isn't that I didn't like it, on the contrary, the topic intrigues me, but there was something difficult about this book. I think a BR would be an ideal way to rid me of my mental block.

I'm already reading
The Eye of the World at the moment so will jump in on discussions once you guys start reading. Hopefully, I'll be able to hold off reading the next in series, till you guys schedule them.

OMG! I think I must stop visiting this thread. I seem to want in on every BR that you guys are scheduling. Even though I like reading at my own pace I think I'm gonna try jumping in discussions for several of these. I hope I don't end up overcommitting myself. Need to get out my calendar and schedule book appointments I think.

I'm currently reading
. It is very strongly reminiscent of LOTR but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. I feel slightly intimadated by the no. of books in the series, and each book being somewhere around 800 pages, makes me wonder when I will ever get time to get through them all.
But after Tolkien and George R. R. Martin, I'm glad to have stumbled upon the WoT series. At least my need for reading fantasy is well taken care of for some time.

I'm planning to read
The Gunslinger as part of the buddy read. Although I'm not exactly sure how the points system would work if we have more than one person from the same team participating in a buddy read with members from other teams.

I got a copy of the book today :D I'm good to go any time you guys decide to begin reading.

Great... Everyone's checked in and all our shelves are ready already.
Tiffany, don't you worry about co-captaining. With so many co-captains on the team we'll have enough eyes and hands around to help each other. I'm sure you'll enjoy your duties.

I've played tower teams and wheel-a-thon before. I'm a slow reader and don't get through more than a book a week, as I hold a full-time job as a marketing professional. But whatever little time I do have, I use that to read - while eating, commuting, keeping others company while they watch the TV and I usually doze off with a book by my pillow (or with my iPad, which I constantly fear will fall off the bed some day and get trampled upon). I stay in India so I'm in quite a different time zone from everyone else.
Seeing everyone here having a hobby - with their gardens and pets and crochet, makes me wish I had a hobby as well, besides reading of course. But when I'm not reading, I'm either browsing the bookstores or second-hand exhibits to find some rare ones. Can book-hunting be called a hobby?

I'm in for the Dark Tower Series buddy read as well. I'm on the River Sprites team over at TT3, so this should get pretty exciting. Now to go and hunt for the books...

I don't know how you mods come up with these team names but they all sound equally interesting.
Vi wrote: "Hi team!! Just popping in as I'm celebrating Deepavali today. I'll check in later today or tomorrow. Good to see we have a chatty team here."A Happy Diwali to you Vi! I'm celebrating it as well, although I'm working this week and only get Thursday off :(
Nicole wrote: "Oh, Amy and Sanz, we should have asked if you wanted to reserve more posts up the top before babbling at each other ;)"Lol... I guess we were all too excited to have the party gates open. Anyway, since I got the first post in I'll go back and edit it to a reserved spot.
And here's the link to my shelf for the challenge:
