35559 Good Morning, Karen! The weather forecast said it might rain in the morning but no such luck. Bright and sunny. I think the day's going to get hotter.

Karen, I think I'm the opposite. I don't think I can live anywhere but the tropics. Of course, I've never properly seen the four seasons (and never snow) so I can't really say.

I finished Imprisoned by a Vow yesterday night (15 July). It was pretty good for a HP. The heroine Leila made the book - she was really strong. The hero was more of a cardboard character but given the word count, you can't really have both the h and the H having issues. The ending with the h annoyed me so much that I kept wanting to bash the hero.

35559 I have another I read coming up - Imprisoned by a Vow. It should be a quick read as its a HP

35559 The most weird thing I have is if I log in to GR from my phone. Sometimes, GR says the cookies have corrupted and I need to clear out all my cookies, log in again. I don't think it's a browser issue as it happens only with GR.

35559 I just finished Indiscreet. 15 July. It was really good. It's a gender-bender i.e the female MC disguises herself as male for a while in the book and that part was really done. I really liked it. I'm definitely checking out more books by this author.

35559 I finished my book - Light in Shadow just now. An ok, light read. Off to the next one. Should we post a review too or is just tagging on the shelf enough?

35559 My reads are a little unpredictable nowadays but here are the books I've lined up:

T - Light In Shadow by Jayne Ann Krentz (character Ethan Truax)
I, C - Indiscreet by Carolyn Jewel (Title - I, author C)

I'm planning to listen to Dead Beat by Jim Butcher but I'm not sure if I can finish by July 20. I'll also list books tomorrow.

35559 Oops, I missed the chatter and everything. It was cleaning day today (which I hate) and I just got time to log in.

I'm from India, currently living in Singapore. I used to work but I'm a SAHM now to a 6 month old. Needless to say, life's a bit hectic. I have been a lifelong reader - both my parents are so I've had all the encouragement from them. Singapore's a great enabler too. The library collection here is just so great and with lot of branches. I read mostly on my Kindle but I'm trying out audio now.

TC, I wish I was good at crafting/knitting etc. My mother's excellent at them but sadly, I don't have the aptitude.

35559 Lol! Hi Karen! Hi TC! I can see the spreadsheet.

Hi Team! Glad to be on another team challenge. I can't wait for it to start.

I totally get this, Rebecca. Most fantasy series are like 800++ pages long and it's just so tiring to think of having such a hard commitment. Especially with series like Wheel of Time which has some mixed/lukewarm reviews for books later on. I mean, if it was 300+ pages, then you wouldn't mind so much. On the other hand, I have read some gems and discovered new favorite authors that way so it's like a toss-up.

35559 Thanks, Catherine!! Diwali was awesome. I'm still recovering from it.

I've been a very mood reading phase the past few weeks. I'm now in a romance - historical (for now) phase. I finished up Fallen Angel by Charlotte Louise Dolan (LK's rec) which I loved and also finished up my impulse borrow Reckless by Amanda Quick from the library. AQ is always a comfort author.

I also started Leslie's rec Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale but It felt too intense for me and I had to put it down. This is an example of my very weird mood-reading. I'm now eyeing First Comes Marriage (Huxtable Quintet #1) by Mary Balogh and The Proposition by Judith Ivory - not sure which to start.

35559 It's been ages since I did an update. Diwali is just a day away and it's been busy here. But, I have been reading..

I finished up Geist (Book of the Order, #1) by Philippa Ballantine earlier today. I had cover lust and just HAD to read it. It's an interesting fantasy set-up. The starting was awkward and the MC, Sorcha was not that easy to like initially (and we are in her PoV a lot) but the book picked up considerable once we got to know her and the other MC, Raed & Merrick. It looks be a good start to a new series and I'm definitely picking up the next book.

And I've also *finally* started Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6) by Nalini Singh - it was hard to do anything else but I just had time to pick this up. Now, I just need the rest of the world to forget about me for a while..

35559 Leslie, glad you're having a great time!!

I've been doing nothing but reading for the past three days and I surpassed even my expectation (admittedly low)

I finished up three fun books - Barefoot in the Sand (Barefoot Bay, #1) by Roxanne St. Claire , The Husband Trap (The Trap Trilogy, #1) by Tracy Anne Warren & A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean . It was refreshing to read them after the Malazan series books. A really easy way to pass the time.

Also finished Ship of Magic (Liveship Traders, #1) by Robin Hobb which should count as TT. I loved this book! The book is very character driven. Even though I didn't like some of the characters, I couldn't stop myself reading. The world-building was done really well by the author. I'm so checking out more of her books.

The most interesting fact is the bigger book took me atleast 1.5 times for me to read as the two shorter ones. I wonder what that says about me or the book..

35559 Since I haven't done a book update in a while:

Finished Armed & Magical (Raine Benares #2) by Lisa Shearin - it was ok. Looks like the series is going to an action-packed fantasy types. The book picks up right after the first and it wasn't as slow as that. Since the world etc are pretty much established, we sort of dive into the events. So far, in both the books Raine & Co has been reacting to the events instead of pro-active. I hope that changes in the upcoming books. There hasn't been much of character development for Raine but I'm really looking forward to that. The major gripe is the Love Triangle is still going strong. Hope they resolve it soon.

I finally finished The Bonehunters (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #6) by Steven Erikson . The sixth book in Malazan Tale and I can't wait to see how Erikson coverges all the events that happened so far in the remaining 4 books. Good news is that this is a CCC which should earn us 3 more BAPs.
