35559 I figure we have about 2 hours till Midnight?? I'll post the results in another say, 8 hours once everybody has posted.

A little over 12 hours to go for the RaT! Are you prepared?

And did you note? There are some mini non-reading challenges posted by the mods HERE. There are two slider type puzzle and 1 crossword posted. So far, Rebecca has the fastest score of 43 sec for puzzle #2 but another member has finished in 10 seconds!! :O :O Such fun :)

And Puzzle number 3 can be played as a team too. So go take a look at the thread and we can discuss. If you have any difficulties posting an image, just post in the thread.
35559 Okie, here are my attempts:

and my time was 1:29 :( :( I need to try again

35559 Yes, you can add the other books towards the TT bookshelf. As long as the book reading during RaT is above 160 pages it will count for both RaT and the Tower Teams.

ETA: Yes, you don't have to read the Moon Cover books.

35559 Looks great, Marguerite!

But just one thing to note - the books you select for the theme and for the cover also count towards the page total. So the Paula Deen would be 287 and the Pirate Tales would be 347 pages bringing your total pages to 1638! Maybe you want to up your number of pages? *wink*

Remember, you have time till May 8 8 AM to update your number of pages. If you think you can do more or less, just let Rebecca or any of the captains know and we'll update. As Rebecca mentioned earlier, better to be as close to what we can do realistically :)

35559 There is one FAQ regarding this but I don't know if it works for you:

6. I just realised that members are going to have to match their book edition to the one that they are reading, in order to get an accurate page count. If there isn't a book that matches the one you have, the member or the captain will have to add the edition to GR. Am I correct? How lenient will you be with the pages? Must they all match perfectly, or if they're out by 10 pages is it okay?
They don't have to match perfectly. For instance if the kindle edition has no pages but the paperback does, and if you don't mind having a different edition then choose the paperback.

35559 I think LK or Sonia told us to use another edition of the title, if possible. I know I saw the post somewhere..

35559 Rebecca, yes we can count it towards the theme/cover.

From the FAQs:

14.Just to double check, will books less than 160 pages count for the theme/colour challenges or only towards overall pages?
Yes they count. You can even choose short-stories with 20 pages - as long as the cover exists on goodreads - to color and theme. The page number is not mandatory.
However, since they don't count for the tower team's challenge, my advise is, choose those if you want or must, but read an eligible book too :o)

LOL! I sure hope I can finish this season's - but I'm so lagging behind though. And I am a procrastinator - pushing all the least interesting books to the end.

35559 OK - I finally found the things that I was looking for:

Question Asked by Jolene:
2) for both the color and theme --- does the team get multiple points per person if an individual reads several books with the theme or cover color. Example: I read 4 books with our theme, than the team gets four points.

Sonia's Answer: (post #156)
2)No. Only one point per person per color and one point per person per theme. And that is till the 50% is achieved, after that is points per team.

So, even if you read multiple blue/white color books, only ONE book will count. That is the max. And it applies to the theme as well. So a minimum of ONE book for the color and ONE book for the theme should be read. Choose wisely and you can reach your page goals along with the theme and color without reading THAT many extra books.

ETA:
And remember, you can change your page goal till May 8th PDT 8:00 AM. After that you can't change.

35559 Re: The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga - I was thinking black looked predominant too.

IIRC, for this RaT, we can read books <160 pages. Sonia has allowed that. It will not count for the Tower Teams Challenge of course; just the RaT. But I'm not sure if they'll let it count for the cover/theme though.

For The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga I think the predominant color is black. Anyone else?

35559 So, for the cover choices, here's my shortlist:

The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover

Will these two books work?
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga The Postman Always Rings Twice by James M. Cain

35559 So, two more days for the monthly challenge - Have you people read ALL the short books that you can lay your hands on? C'mon team!

On May 1, the Read-A-Thon starts on 8 AM PDT (Please convert to your timezone; the ever-helpful Lisa Kay Jex has given us a link to covert - Link to convert time) and ends at 8 AM PDT on 12th May.

We need to read TWO books - one for Color (white, pearl or blue) and one with a strong female character. Have you shortlisted books for these two categories? Post your choices here so that I can get inspired everyone can check it out.

35559 Kristin - take care!

I finished

Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot #10) by Agatha Christie (245 pages) and Author starts with A working for the mini.
Open Country (Blood Rose, #2) by Kaki Warner - 420 pages. Both were good reads. The cover shows open sky which I think works for the mini.

I'm job hunting so I have to force myself to.. hunt. But I have Tiger Eye (Dirk & Steele, #1) by Marjorie M. Liu & Memories of Ice (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #3) by Steven Erikson started today.

35559 If we talking libraries, then I will have to start on Geo-restriction which will turn into a really big rant. But I'll side-step it.

I've started And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie for the sole reason that it's bound to be short. Weekend's going to be busy so short books are going to win it for me.

How's everybody's reading going along? Is anybody participating in Dewey's Read-A-Thon? Which is supposed to be today IIRC.
