I finished today. It was sad at times. But not “ugly cry”sad, thank goodness! LOL The book reminded me of Christina Lauren. When Christina Lauren is good! Calla and Jonah made me laugh with their banter and pranks. I am interested in book 2. It won’t be in audio for a few weeks. So maybe we can read the next book in May?

I’ll be starting Wednesday, Brooke. Too many other books on my plate. But I’m glad you are enjoying it. Makes me want to start now.

I made it through chapter 7. Really enjoying it!
(view spoiler)[The author is doing a good job at bringing the MCs to life. Calla is likeable and like a lot of new adults, a little self absorbed and trying to make it and trying to find themselves.
Alaska is also coming to life. From the mosquitos and the high prices at the grocery store. And the run down town feel. I have always wanted to visit Alaska. A bigger town, though. And maybe see the wilderness and nature too. Maybe one day...
Jonah is being a bit tough on her. But I think he is not seeing the entire situation and doesn’t realize that Calla’s dad is just as much to blame for not seeing each other. But I don’t mind a little tension between the MCs. Makes it more interesting. (hide spoiler)]

Welcome, Brianna! I will start later today.
Brooke wrote: "I think this one has an interesting premise! There have been many times where I try to imagine what my life would look like today if I made different decisions. The 2 that come to mind the most are..."Oh yeah. I have thought about how things would be different if I made different choices. When I first went to college I majored in computer science. Not because I loved it but because my parents wanted me to study something that would lead to a lucrative career. I ended up failing my classes. And went through years of “finding myself”. My life has been great, don’t get me wrong. And I probably wouldn’t be where I am now and with my husband if I made different decisions. But I probably would do things differently if I had the chance to redo my life.
The book has been compared to the movie Sliding Doors. Have you seen that movie? I will probably watch it again after reading this book.

OK. Great. I’ll start Monday!

I’ve borrowed this from hoopla. I got the booktrack version. Hopefully, I don’t find it annoying. Sometimes the soundtrack is over the top and actually takes away from enjoying the book. I’ll let you both know later.

This does look good. Can you start Monday? I have the book another 12 days. Annoyingly, I saw someone has already put a hold on it.

If I remember right,
The Hiding Place was pretty out there. A mix of horror and mystery. I enjoyed it. But I know some who couldn’t get into it.
OK. I’ll look for our next BR threads.
I’ve been busy trying to restock my shelves with books I can get from Hoopla. With all the challenges coming up, I like to know I will have something to work for most tasks.

We both had similar opinions, Laura. Hopefully, next week, our buddy read book will be better.

I am done.
(view spoiler)[ There was something missing for me. It wasn’t as funny or engaging as The Unhoneymooners. I think I would have enjoyed actually reading more about Mel and Rusty doing their show. Instead, there was just the two of them mostly bickering. And the situation that led the characters to talk to the police was a bit of a letdown. And there definitely needed to be more tension between Carey and James too. Their romance was a bit blah.
It didn’t feel like Lauren really thought things through. Disappointing! (hide spoiler)]Laura - Your guess about why they were being interviewed by the police would have been much more interesting than what it turned out to be! LOL
Karen ♐ wrote: "I went to get the audio from Scribd but they're having some kind of technical problem. So I'm buying the audio from Audible. I'll start later today."Darn. It would have been nice not to buy it.

I started. I read through the prologue and first 6 sections. To the beginning of a James section. (Don’t you hate it when there aren’t chapters?) 🙂
I am enjoying the book so far. I used to watch HGTV all the time and couldn’t stop watching home design shows.
(view spoiler)[I’m not finding this book as hilarious as The Unhoneymooners. And this reads more like chick lit than romance. But I like Carey and James. I like that their romance isn’t insta lust. They are actually talking before all that.
I am so so curious, though, about why Carey is talking to the police!
Carey is taking a lot of crap from Mel. Carey’s condition is probably why she feels like she has to stay. But hopefully, she will get the recognition she deserves.
I definitely feel like there is a ticking time bomb happening before everything explodes. (hide spoiler)]
Laura wrote: "I'm going to have to get this one from KU. I believe I heard that my local bookstore would be closing indefinitely."Darn! I guess eventually you will be able to use your gift card.

Glad you liked it, Laura. I may be a little jaded now with these types of books. It was just an okay book for me. 3 stars.

I finished. For some reason I didn’t have much to say about this book. Probably because I didn’t have a real grasp of the story until I was halfway through the book. You were right, Laura. Good guess! But what did you think of the final twists?
This book was just okay for me.
The Wife Between Us is still the best book I read by these authors. I’m glad I read it, though.

Very interesting! I never would have thought they wrote that way. It’s so great you were able to go when we are reading their book.

I started yesterday. I read through chapter 17. Surprising and intriguing beginning. I’m still not totally sure what is going on.
(view spoiler)[ Possibly a revenge group to right the wrongs committed against the women? (hide spoiler)] I will continue now to see if I can figure some things out!
Brooke, how was the book event?

Have a good time at the author event. We want to hear all about it!
