I am up to the part where Emma is just about to see Jessie again.
(view spoiler)[I definitely felt Emma’s sadness. I liked when she met Sam again. It was funny and I fell for Sam like I did when Emma was in high school.
Question for all of us about what Sam said about changing and growing apart in his marriage. He said he was a lot different at 30 than he was at 20. I do agree there is change during those years! I’m glad I met my husband when I was 30. I do think people are more settled and know more what they want.
What do you think? Can you remember that far back? LOL I can barely remember!
I was a little angry when Jessie’s mom chastised Emma for moving on. I don’t think Emma rushed her grieving process. She did it all right in my opinion! (hide spoiler)]Yes, second person can be a little jarring, Laura. It puts distance for the person talking. More so than first person. Emma was grieving and by it being in second person, I felt this was the only way Emma could tell us her story.

Yes, the narrator is doing a great job! She’s definitely a pro and I’m not surprised she has read so many books! January Lavoy is also great. She can make a weaker story seem good. LOL I know you, Laura, are just getting into audio. Look for her name and you are pretty much guaranteed a good listen!
I agree that Reid is doing a great job writing the book. I definitely felt her sadness after losing Jessie. And her confusion over what to do now.

I prefer the cover above to mine!
I just finished chapter 3 if I'm including the prologue - pet peeve- chapters are not numbered!
prol..."My audio has the same white cover as your book. I agree the one above is better.
The other book has the same pic for the audio as on the thread. You will have to show us your blue color book.

I have also read part 1.
(view spoiler)[I totally agree that it was a great trip back to high school. Sometimes I don’t like that. But this time it did feel real, and not too young or silly. All the awkwardness and conflicts with parents and siblings also felt real.
I definitely don’t like attention at restaurants for my birthday! That was a cute story, Brooke! I do remember Showbiz Pizza.
I die enjoy going back to the past! Emma’s teenage years were explored in detail. Then, after she started a relationship with Jessie it started to get glossed over. I think that is why you, Laura, thought it lacked emotion. I think we needed a little more.
But as far as “ships” go, it’s going to be tough to choose one. I liked Sam. He definitely felt awkward when Emma didn’t accept his invitation for a date eagerly. He was an interesting, nice guy.
It seemed like Jessie was more of a gorgeous, popular guy. The kind of guy most teen girls get a crush on. I usually root more for the underdog. So maybe I am a little more of an Emma/Sam shipper!
Either way, this is going to be a tough decision for Emma. One I’m glad I don’t have to make. But I am curious how it will end. (hide spoiler)]I’ll try to finish then next 25% or so today.

I heard the William Kent Krueger book is good.
I also added a few Simone St. James books to my list too. I have read a few by her and liked them. The Sun Down Motel looks good. But no audio yet. I may have to break down and buy it on kindle.

BTW, I looked up Book Of the Month Club. I’m too digital now to read a physical book. But I looked at January 2020 selections. And found a book I bookmarked at audible.
I will probably check it monthly to see if I find more books to keep an eye on. Mostly I look at Amazon Best Books of the Month list.

It seems like a timely story about the opioid crisis. And the author is a really good writer!

I have borrowed the book and will definitely be ready to start on Monday. There are 40 chapters. I’ll probably read 8-10 chapters a day. I am looking forward to this!

Can we get a thread for
starting Jan. 13? Thank you!

I’m definitely super excited!

Looking forward to buddy reading this book!

Wow, we did great! We had a great captain and co captain too!
And thanks, Sammy!

That’s it for me! I wanted to get longer books done too, Laura, but couldn’t with all the stuff going on.
I hope your doggie is doing better soon!
Megan, you are amazing! Reading so much when you have a headache.
Brooke, have fun with those 2 pups!
Alissa, I’m sure that ugly sweater party was hilarious and loads of fun!
I’m so sad TT is almost over! It was a lot of fun. It’s going to take me awhile before I get used to reading all by lonesome again! 😢
Laura wrote: "I’m looking forward to family time next week..."Have a really good time with your family! Brooke and Karen too!
I will also enjoy having some TV time. I get so behind during challenges.
That being said...I will try to finish 1 more book by Sunday morning.

"So glad you enjoyed this book too. I will reread it next year when I need a feel good read.

I will also have a crazy weekend. Going to a Christmas play then out to dinner with friends tomorrow. Sunday my husband and I will go on a road trip. I am working on finishing 1 more before deadline. It should fit contemporary.
I can’t believe TT is almost over! But with the holidays, it is getting more difficult to read like a maniac. LOL
