I finished today. The book really grew on me! In a good way. 🙂
(view spoiler)[ In the end, the contrived conflict between Helen and Jake made more sense. Jake’s eye problems and all. It was convenient that Jake revealed nothing was ever going on with Wendy and him. But then again this was a romance. So I allow a certain amount of that sort of thing.
I agree the hiking part of the book was the best part. I did like Bennett from the beginning. Some of the scenes were hilarious. Helen’s nicknames made me laugh. I could see this book making a funny romantic comedy actually. (hide spoiler)]I’m glad I read this. I did enjoy it. I also really liked
Things You Save in a Fire. Anyone interested in reading
The Lost Husband? I can get that one from my library too. If so, we could read it next month.

Well, I read through chapter 10. Halfway through the book. I need to have the book done by the 12th for a challenge. Sorry if I am speeding through too quickly for everyone else! But I’ll be around until everybody has finished.
I can tell this is an early book by Center. The book starts off without much background.
(view spoiler)[ The romance is pretty surface-y. But there is some funny banter. Their age difference is a big deal to Helen, but it doesn’t concern me. Once most people get to a certain age, it really is just a number, to me anyway. The conflict between them does feel contrived and a little immature.
I am finding the hiking guide funny. And the situations are interesting. Ultimately, this will hopefully be a learning lessons for Helen and Jake.
In chapter 8, they talk about poor Pickles, the dog. Gosh, I felt so bad! I know you guys will probably have a thing or two to say about that! (hide spoiler)]

Yes, so happy she wasn’t gone long!

The book released today!

So looking forward to this. I’m hoping we can start sooner. I’ll let you guys know when I get a copy.

I was able to borrow this from the library. Mind if I crash your buddy read? LOL

Yes, I did enjoy it! I will definitely read the next book! We can buddy read it if you like.
I am definitely up for the March buddy reads! Do you have a request for them at your library? I think you said you may use a gift card for one? I have a request in at my library. I requested months ago so hopefully I get them first.
I really hope your internet is fixed!

I hope your internet issues are fixed, Laura! 3 times in 2 months is way too often!

I finished. And I so agree I’m happy I don’t live anywhere near a place like Rockton.
(view spoiler)[ I was surprised at who Abby’s parents were. And in the end, the baby went back to loving parents. So that was good.
But so much drama! Between Lane and Abby’s parents. It was a bit much by the end. But it was an exciting story. That kept me guessing.
I think eventually Casey and Dalton should be parents. Maybe Dalton will be dealing with his parental issues in the next book? (hide spoiler)]

I am through chapter 28 now. A lot has happened!
(view spoiler)[ Maryann’s story was horrible! We don’t know a lot about the hostils. So it is interesting to learn more about them and the settlers.
Jen is great, She’s so gruff but takes care of the baby. And Cypher did get a night with her. LOL
I do wonder if we will find out the truth about Dalton’s parents. Were they not the best parents or was that just an excuse for the Dalton’s to take Eric in?
So callous trying to sell a baby. Sharice and Owen are from a different world! (hide spoiler)]I also love the dogs and Casey’s sister, Laura!
Frances, I hope your internet is back soon! That is so frustrating!

How was your weekend, Laura?
I started today. Read through chapter 14. It’s good to be back in Rockton! The book started off running.
(view spoiler)[ Finding the baby was so worrisome! It was funny, though, how Casey and Dalton were so out of their depth with the baby. LOL I do wonder if they will end up keeping the baby. It sounds like the real parents may not be good people. Or will they take in the mother if she was abducted or unwillingly a part of that group? (hide spoiler)]

I finished this morning. I enjoyed it too. But it was heartbreaking at times. I was also surprised by the ending! No need to apologize for devouring the book. I’m happy you enjoyed it!

You definitely flew through this book! I’ll finish tomorrow.

I will probably start Monday. I forgot this will be Valentine’s Day weekend. We may go out of town on Saturday. Will that work for you Laura?

Caught up to you, Laura. I am really enjoying the dance class scenes.
(view spoiler)[ So tragic about the death of their mother! And now Lisa is ill. Yes, it does seem like a neurological disorder with the headaches, bed wetting and loss of feeling in her legs. And it was strange when Lisa took her test and had trouble seeing the math section. It is affecting her eyesight too intermittently.
I do like the comparisons between Eastern and Western medicine. I do believe in some cases Eastern medicine can be better. I have taken herbs and had acupuncture in the past. They do work!
The competition with Ryan will be interesting. The fact he has a girlfriend complicates things. But she is a long distance relationship so it probably won’t last. (hide spoiler)]

I’ve read through chapter 12. I was able to read your spoiler, Laura.
I am enjoying it more now that people aren’t putting down Charlie so much. That made me sad. The dancing classes are fun and interesting.
(view spoiler)[ I thought there would be a romance. And I thought it would be Winston. Now, I’m thinking it might be Ryan?
The Vision saying that if one sister thrives something must be taken away from the other worries me! (hide spoiler)]
Laura wrote: "I’m not far in...middle of chapter 4 but I like this already.
It’s a little ironic that Charlie is so clumsy but is great at tai chi. I think she is more graceful then she thinks. I haven’t tried..."I agree. Tai Chi is so graceful and coordinated. Charlie can’t be very clumsy if she can do it. Read through chapter 4 now too.
(view spoiler)[ I still don’t like Charlie’s new boss. The way she chastised Charlie for having rough, chapped hands.
I guess Winston will be a love interest for Charlie. That should be interesting.
And yes, yuck! Caterpillar soup! (hide spoiler)]

I’ve only read 2 chapters but had to post.
(view spoiler)[ UGH! I don’t like how people are treating Charlie! When she went on the interview and they examined her and talked about her in front of her. And the psychic telling Charlie how to get a husband. Ick! Then the psychic dismisses Charlie’s new job. I know it is early. But I feel badly for Charlie.
But I do like Charlie’s dad and sister. And I laughed at the snake penises and other oddities at Charlie’s uncle’s practice! LOL (hide spoiler)]

I’ve been finishing some books today. But I will start the book now.

Thanks, Laura! Looks like we can read this book for Bingo!
