Lauri’s comments from the Nothing But Reading Challenges group.

1. What did you think of the read-a-thon? Did you have fun?
I loved it, but it got a bit crazy in the end. I thought it would just be the RaT and Road To St. Pats, so I got confused with the questions, refs and coins. I had so much fun, but it's to the demise of everything else. Like I'd like to stop work at my real job to read & track challenges.

2. How many books did you start and finish?
Started: 13
Finished: 9
Picked up, but never started: 6

3. How did you like the interaction of the RaT?
That was probably my favorite part. I like making new friends, seeing what others enjoy reading. I think it makes us, as readers, less isolated.

4. How did you like the recommendations of the RaT?
That was my 2nd favorite part! It's fun to recommend, but even more fun to see what others loved to read.

5. Did you have any goals?
Goals? We don't need no stinkin' goals?

6. Would you participate in other RaT's in the future?
Most definitely!

7. KISS. Keep it simple, silly. Maybe 1 event, recs /questions would be more than enough (especially for us fun-loving slackers!) the over achievers can always find something hardcore to do! :)

Hey all you nurses! I am home suffering with a pinched nerve. My whole right arm is throbbing. Hard to sleep, eat, perform bodily functions...
I saw the Doctor yesterday. He gave me a shot of ketorolac & prescribed gababentin & pednisone. Still hurts like *#¥>~@$!
Any advice/thoughts for me?
At least I can still read when I don't pass out from pain...

I would love to continue on. You guys are the greatest!

I also do the weirdest things -- like once I find a good series I like, I only read one or two books a year so that I can savor and truly enjoy each one. Or I only read a Stephanie Plum novel when I'm on vacation (or stay-cation.) Please tell me I'm not insane?

And in book news I just finished The Case of the Man Who Died Laughing and Blue Lightning

OMG! I joined GR in 2014, but have only started with the challenges this year. Now I'm finding that I'm ignoring my TBR shelf in favor ot the BOTM and books for specific challenges. I'm going to add on my first 10 books added and see how far I can get in 2016!

All of the Stepanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich! I'm a huge fan, no matter what anyone says! The 1st one was made as a movie already
Starring Katherine Heigl, but it sort of tanked. I still loved it! So maybe a TV series? It could run for years...
I also think The Hollows series would be good. Loved

I am a bit of both, actually. I love Netflix!!

I love The Walking Dead, Sleepy Hollow, Big Bang Theory, Shadow Hunters, Stitchers, Pretty Little Liars, Vikings, You Me & the Apocalypse, The Goldbergs...
3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
I loved M*A*S*H, Bob Newhart (in all the reincarnations!), Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, the Carol Burnett Show, Wild Kingdom, the Wonderful World of Disney...
4: What are some of your favorite movies?
OMG! So many! Big, Braveheart, Twister, all the Jurassic Parks, Dangerous Liaisons, Out of Africa, Mean Girls, Serenity, all the Star Wars movies (especially the old ones!), Spaceballs, the Princess Bride, Mrs. Doubtfire, Stand by Me, Elf A Christmas Story....

I pretty much ignore sports categorically...

I would have say I love zebras. Something about those stripes. It's the same with tigers... Unicorns are pretty cool...

Sadly we live in an apartment building that doesn't allow pets. Throughout my childhood, my family always had a lot of animals. I had dogs, cats, rabbits, frogs, turtles, mice, homing pigeons, fish, lovebirds...

1: Where & When do you read most?
Everywhere and anywhere! Honestly in the bathroom & in bed on weekend mornings
2: Are you a "real" book reader, or ebook reader? Both?
I've been struggling with getting an e-reader. I love the idea, but at the same time I love the look, feel & smell of a real book with actual pages.
3: Do you listen to audiobooks?
I've never tried one!
4: Do you have any "bad" bookish habits?
Obsessive piling up of more books than I can possible read for each trip to the library?

Wow...this is hard and I am waay late But here goes anyway!
1) when I was young, one of my dreams was to be a professional singer/actress. I really thought I was THAT awesome! (I work as an office assistant now). That didn't exactly pan out...

2) I love Broadway musicals. I played in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in high school. I still know all the words to every song.

3) I believe my brain is almost filled up exclusively with parts of books and movie and song quotes. My whole family speaks in movie quotes!

4) I work on a hospital campus that has a lot of wild chickens. Every morning I do my own 'Animal Census' where I count the chickens as well as cats, mongoose, cattle egrets, peacocks and 'other' animals.

Wacky enuff for ya?

We're having thunder and rain this evening... I'm looking forward to hot cocoa (peppermint!) and some Thin Mints. I love Girl Scout cookies!! :)

Just finished The Relic Master
It was pretty good. Very funny, too, in unexpected ways. I'm so confused with what I need to complete! I'm sure this counts for something somehow!
