Q. If I am reading a book by an Argentinian author (for example), and the book doesn't explicitly mention where it is set, can I assume it is set in the author's country, and count it as a book from Argentina?
A. Yes
Q: Can we use fictionalized versions of countries with fantasy versions of Korea and China probably the most common?
A: Let's stick with the real countries (or geographical areas if we are in historical fiction)

@Preeti - am I missing your comments on the Mockingjay buddy read? I can't seem to find them and they aren't linked on the spreadsheet.
Carrie wrote: "Good for us but a bummer for them!"Yeah. They've been trying, but it was His Carrot Her Muffin. So they're looking for a book that starts with HIS (or This) and ends with FIN. I'm not sure there are any other than the one that is too short!

That's the battle completed for us. District 2 had a problem with one of their books. They didn't realize that it was only 67 pages and they weren't able to find a replacement that fit the correct first and last letters. So we'll be the winner in this battle.

For those reading The Familiar the deadline for BOTM participation points is next Friday, August 2.

Poking my nose in from the Capitol. Our book was
One Day Like This, so you could go with THIS if you find something.
And I found this list of words ending in FIN.

MelanieJoy wrote: "I think it’s Monday morning at 2am for me so I’ll need to be done by Sunday night. Thanks!"Sorry it took me so long, but I think this is right. I'll change it if I get feedback from the captain's group that I got it wrong.

Let me check if anyone has made one. I know it’s Monday morning.

Hey team! We seem to have an extra A Court of Mist and Fury on the spreadsheet. There is one for Yasmine and one with no name. Anyone else planning to read it?

@Preeti - don't forget to participate in the Mockingjay buddy read!

I have volunteered for our team. I am adding the link here in case anybody is interested.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/......"I have about a 10 week wait at the library for that book. I might just buy it the next time I'm at Costco. With the reduced prices Costco has, I get almost as much in credit when I take it to my local used bookstore.
Keely wrote: "I started my battle book today. I'm hoping to get it done today, but if not it will be tomorrow.
I received some bad news last night. One of the cats that lives in the house my boyfriend's parent..."I'm so sorry to hear that.

I just read the collection of all her short stuff, The Lady in Glass. It occurs to me only now that the characters of Simon and Lucivar are quite similar.

The Others is one of my favorites of all time. It was the first Anne Bishop I ever read.

@Sana - is this your first time reading The Black Jewels series? It's one of my favorites!
MelanieJoy wrote: "Haha Laura! Hooray for new presents, so sorry yours died!"I've got it! I'll read my battle book really quick before I do all the finicky set-up stuff to make it look exactly my previous Kindle. :)

It appears that I have killed another Kindle! A couple of my kids were already planning to get me a new one for my birthday in September, so I’m getting an early birthday present tomorrow. I finished my audio battle book today, but my second one is on the Kindle. I should still be good to finish my second book this week.
Kamaria wrote: "I finally finished Eldest, it took me 12 days, never have I ever had such stalling with a book.
The date in the spreadsheet isn't working, the points aren't being generated."It's because the spreadsheet is looking for a USA date format, but displaying differently. This is the format set up on the official spreadsheet. If you enter 7/22 it will display correctly. But if your brain is trained to enter 22/7, Yasmine, Keely, and I are trained as captains to enter it on the official spreadsheet in the format that it's looking for.
