A shimmering, joyful new novel about a pair of opposites with the wrong thing in common.

Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.

Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.

Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads—Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them?

But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right?

Guidance for DQ setters
Aim for a reasonable number of questions: 4 - 5 is typical. Please don't post too many - any more than 7 gets unwieldy!
Use consecutive numbering of the DQs for your days. So, for example, if Day One is posted as questions 1-4, Day Two should start at number 5 etc.
Don't worry too much about your questions: you aren't being tested on how clever your questions are!
Hints and tips:
- Is there a quote that jumped out at you? Use that in a question.
- What about the characters - do they generate strong feelings? No feelings? - either way, we can explore that!
- What about that plot twist?!
- Explore the writing style: is there an unusual structure being used? what's the tone of voice like? or the point of view?

Melissa | 3779 comments DQs Day 1 Chapter 1-8

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?

5. Any early predictions for how this will turn out? Do you think Peter's call to Daphne is an indication of jealousy? Do you agree with Ashleigh when she said "If Peter was going to break your heart now, he would’ve done it eventually." and "He's a lunch swapper, and whether it was the rusty metal Batman lunch box or a Cars 2 zip-up one that's filled with mold, at some point, he was going to trade in the sack lunch." (I love that metaphor!!)

Sorry for so many typos!!! That's what I get for not checking before I post :D

Tammie DQs Day 1 Chapter 1-8

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?
I have read Book Lovers and Happy Place...rated 4 stars each.

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?
I like it...typically light read. Her stories are enjoyable and very easy to read and follow.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?
There is no way I would go. I can't believe they are even thinking about it...but Peter is definitely in 'slimeball' territory...I understand the temptation to make him feel as uncomfortable as possible.

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?
So far I'm liking Miles the best. There's some mystery about concerning him.

5. Any early predictions for how this will turn out? Do you think Peter's call to Daphne is an indication of jealousy? Do you agree with Ashleigh when she said "If Peter was going to break your heart now, he wouldn't done it eventually." and "He's a lunch swapper, and whether it was the rusty metal Batman lunch box or a Cars 2 zip-up one that's filled with mold, at some point, he was going to trade in the sake lunch." (I love that metaphor!!)
I agree with Ashleigh...anyone who would do something like this is very likely an indecisive brat. Very 'it's all about me' for sure.
I thought the metaphor was excellent!

DQs Day 1 Chapter 1-8

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?

I've read Book Lovers for a previous BOM and enjoyed it. Some of her others are on my tbr but I'm never in a hurry to read her books. Not because she's not a good author but it's just I tend to want to read something else more.

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?
Light and breezy and so far setting up nicely. About what I was expecting.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?
Hmm, I'd be tempted to RSVP, especially when intoxicated. But not sure I'd actually show.

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?
I am actually. Nothing particularly earth shattering but then that's not the type of books Henry writes. Honestly so far Ashleigh is my favorite.

Oh for sure. The fact Daphne packed her stuff and left without a bunch of dramatics probably bummed him out. I completely agree with Ashleigh's statement. As the saying goes, when people SHOW you who they are, believe them.

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?
Emily Henry has been on my radar for awhile, but I haven't actually gotten to her books. So this BOM was a fun way to change that!

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing? I ended up only getting to access to a 7 day check-out from the library. I really enjoyed both the story and the writing.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!? I would have had the "run" instinct Daphne had. BUT I can see the point of going. And it was funny how they decided

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite? I really like Miles and his mood music and stuff. And I love the dialogue. It makes me laugh too.

5. Any early predictions for how this will turn out? Do you think Peter's call to Daphne is an indication of jealousy? Do you agree with Ashleigh when she said "If Peter was going to break your heart now, he wouldn't done it eventually." and "He's a lunch swapper, and whether it was the rusty metal Batman lunch box or a Cars 2 zip-up one that's filled with mold, at some point, he was going to trade in the sake lunch." (I love that metaphor!!) I think that Peter wanted Daphne's heart to be broken - he's jealous for sure. There IS a certain attraction to what you don't have.

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?
It isn't my first; it's my third. The other two were also BOM and read for team points, if I'm not mistaken! So far, I like this one over the other two.

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?
It's easy, light-hearted (regardless of the storyline) and funny.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?
I'd absolutely RSVP and I'd go if I had a date to go with! Not because I wanted to be actually be there, I'd just want to make the sweat and wonder why the hell I was coming and what I might do! LOL

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?
I am enjoying all three characters. I may like Ashleigh a bit more overall, but the interaction between Daphne and Miles is fun.

5. Any early predictions for how this will turn out? Do you think Peter's call to Daphne is an indication of jealousy? Do you agree with Ashleigh when she said "If Peter was going to break your heart now, he would’ve done it eventually." and "He's a lunch swapper, and whether it was the rusty metal Batman lunch box or a Cars 2 zip-up one that's filled with mold, at some point, he was going to trade in the sake lunch." (I love that metaphor!!)
Absolutely! Daphne was anger when he told her, but he never saw her breakdown and she just let with no drama - no begging him to change his mind, etc. etc. And who knows maybe he was regretting his decision! Nah, I think he wanted to hear her being miserable!! Wholeheartedly agree with Ashley and loved the lunchbox metaphor.

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?
This is my first Emily Henry book. I am not big on Romance. I find it too cheesy for my taste. But once in a while I will try a book out of my comfort zone, because, why not? I am mostly reading it for BOM/Games and the Narrator is the bonus. Although I had bought the audio on sale before this book was announced as BOM because I absolutely adore Julia Whelan.

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing? It's fun, Not sure how real of a situation this would be.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!? I would absolutely NOT go and stop talking to them entirely.

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite? I love the sarcastic volley and remember being like that when I was younger, Most men are not as fun like that though. I am rooting for the exes to get together and respect Daphne for thinking about her mental health and not jumping into bed at first chance because she is lonely and sad or for revenge.

5. Any early predictions for how this will turn out? Do you think Peter's call to Daphne is an indication of jealousy? Do you agree with Ashleigh when she said "If Peter was going to break your heart now, he would’ve done it eventually." and "He's a lunch swapper, and whether it was the rusty metal Batman lunch box or a Cars 2 zip-up one that's filled with mold, at some point, he was going to trade in the sake lunch." (I love that metaphor!!
I think Peter will feel regret about leaving Daphne so abruptly but in the long run wants her to be happy.

I’ve read all her adult releases and before that one of her YA books. I know this is an unpopular pick, but the last one (Happy Place) was my favorite so far.

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?

I’m really enjoying it! The writing is solid as always and I do like that it skews more women’s fiction than romance.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?

Man… I don’t know… depending on how good the terms of our terms were 😅 I totally get that they want to prove their exes wrong but I don’t know if I could do it

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?

I thought it was soooo fun when Ashleigh mentioned the hot drug dealer at the winery and it did NOT click for Daphne at all.

I do think Peter calling is him being jealous, and I agree with Ashleigh’s assessment. He’s that kind of guy where he’s too perfect and could never imagine himself doing any wrong, so he doesn’t see it himself? But he would and he is that kind of shitty.

6. In this section, we learn that the countdown at the start of every chapter is for the Read-a-thon, a reading event Daphne is planning at the library. Did you try to figure out what it was about? What did you think? Or were you just along for the ride, waiting to find to, like I was?

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you?

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?

I thought it was a countdown for when she planned to leave at first. This is a really big deal to her. I'm thinking something very exciting will happen at this event:)

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?
I've done a couple of read-a-thons with GRs groups. Not for reading, but helped with 'SeniorNite' at school which is an 'all nighter' for upcoming graduates, 'homeless night' at church where youth sleep in card board boxes and we don't eat...stuff like that...

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)
I've had a boyfriend cheat on my...others knew and I didn't. It was painful for sure.

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you?
I think the beard is a good way to emphasize that you never really know about a person until you 'know' them. I agree with your opinion.
Another I like that I believe to be so true...“Things go smoother if you don’t let people get a rise out of you,” he says. “If you give them control over how you feel, they’ll always use it.”

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?
It must be a major rift. I think at this point she's thinking they are still kinda getting to know each other...he'll tell her if they get closer.

6. In this section, we learn that the countdown at the start of every chapter is for the Read-a-thon, a reading event Daphne is planning at the library. Did you try to figure out what it was about? What did you think? Or were you just along for the ride, waiting to find to, like I was?
I wasn't really curious - I figured it was maybe when her lease expired or something. The Read-a-thon makes more sense.

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to? No but it sounds great! I have gone to a few release nights and they were memorable.

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!) It really does seem easy to happen because so often our friends happen because we have something important in common (kids the same age, etc. )

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you? I had to return my book, but there were quotes I would definitely highlighted if I'd read it on Kindle. And I think that was a very good point about the beard. Why judge!?

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it? As I finished the book, I know the answer to this. I do think Daphne not probing is probably good - it seems to be a very sensitive area, and they aren't super close friends at this point - he doesn't know if he can emotionally trust her. And he may not even know how to express everything.

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?
First Emily Henry for me. And, yep, I'm here for the Games points. 😉

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?
It's a very fast read; I was surprised how little time it took to get through the first 8 chapters. I'm definitely enjoying the writing style; it's a good mix of snarky humor in the dialog, a plot that has great potential, and characters that I'm growing to care a lot about.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?
I'd love to think that I could handle the situation with the humor the two of them did. I'd definitely cry and wallow in self pity for a while, but then I'd come out of it, gather myself together, and ignore the invitation. My ex-husband got remarried; I was not invited to that wedding, thank goodness.

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?
Yes, I find myself giggling a lot and am enjoying the characters quite a bit. The night out at the Miles's winery with Ashleigh and Daphne was extremely charming. I especially enjoyed this exchange:
"I'm vetting my friend's new boyfriend," she tells him. "Aren't they cute?"
"If anything," I say to Miles, "we're still vetting her."
He looks over, smile deepening. "I say we keep her."
"Who's going to feed and walk her?" I say.
"I will," he insists. "Every day. I promise."

Extra interest points to Miles so far. He just rolls with this whole (view spoiler) and has a great sense of humor about it.

Yes to all the questions about Peter. I also loved the lunchbox metaphor!

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?

- This is my first book by Emily Henry! I have heard of her before, I just haven't gotten around to reading any. I'm new to the group and am looking for a way to continue to read consistently, so I'm hoping these BOM's will help!

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?

- I am a huge romance fan- especially slow burn- so I'm enjoying it so far! I keep laughing at the conversations between characters, so I would say that I am enjoying it a lot :)

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?

- There is no way that I would go. For my own mental peace, I would sit at home and put on a sad movie and eat ice cream.

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?

- Yes! They're so funny! I'm enjoying Ashleigh and Miles a lot so far.

- I do not think the call itself was made out of jealousy- I think he was curious to see how she was doing and wanted to make himself look and feel better. I do think that he seemed jealous when Daphne "revealed" that she was dating Miles. And yes, I totally agree with what Ashleigh said and her metaphor (which I loved!).

DQs Day 2 Chapter 9-13

6. In this section, we learn that the countdown at the start of every chapter is for the Read-a-thon, a reading event Daphne is planning at the library. Did you try to figure out what it was about? What did you think? Or were you just along for the ride, waiting to find to, like I was?

I figured we'd find out and that it was a way to force some action in the story by placing a deadline to something happening between the MCs . . . or not happening as the case may be.

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?
Not a Read-a-thon like that where it all happens in one go. It sounds fun though, I'd do it.

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)
Yes, sort of. I'm passed the age of our friends getting married and having kids, and are starting to enter the divorce phase for those who aren't going to go the distance. But it's not to the degree that Daphne is facing since Sadie was her bff. Usually in a divorce or a similar type of split, friends end up picking a side even if it's not intentional. It just happens.

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you?
I thought Daphne's thoughts not definitely not taking Peter back were good, I'm hoping she sticks to that because I have a feeling his stupid face will be back.
I really liked this conversation too and wish more people thought they way Daphne does.

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?
Daphne is excellent at minding her own business and not pressuring to talk about deeply personal things before a person is ready. I mean, how long and well do they really know each other at this point. I didn't think anything about her not poking her nose into what could be deeply private business, like what if his parents were abusive? Do I think that, no not really. I'm guessing it's more along the lines of they wanted Miles to be a doctor or lawyer or whatever and aren't impressed with his life choices so wrote him off.

I thought at first it was something to do with a lease on the apartment.

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?
I'm sure I did when I was a kid, but I don't honestly remember. The Book Games event going on now feels a lot like this kind of readathon!

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)
Definitely have gone through this when my ex and I got divorced. It was most difficult with his family. He and I had been together for almost 20 years (11 years married), so losing him and his family (a brother and sister, both married with children) felt like extra baggage with the divorce.

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. There were a few lines I highlighted in my Kindle edition.

If a person lets you down, it's time to reconsider what you're asking of them.

The Whiny Babies game Daphne and her mom played

When Peter trips and almost falls at the lavender stand: Nothing so ordinary as gravity could take him down.

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?
I haven't made any guesses about this yet. Maybe (view spoiler). I like that Daphne lets Miles have his life and doesn't try to pressure him into opening his past up to her.

- I was mostly just along for the ride! I had a couple of guesses- like the end of a lease or some other event- but I figured it would be revealed to us before too long.

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?

- I have heard of it but I have not been in one- but I think it would be so much fun to have a read-a-thon!

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)

- Losing any kind of relationship can be really hard- even friendships! And when the ex-couple has mutual friends, it can be really hard for those friends to stay neutral.

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you?

- I think Daphne makes a great point here! I also really liked when Miles said, "But so much of life's good. What's the point of dwelling on the stuff that's not?"

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?

- I'm not really sure- mostly just assuming that there was a big fight and they haven't made up yet (and maybe never will). I'm glad Daphne didn't pressure him into talking about things that he's not ready to yet- I think it shows that she's kind, too, and respects him and his wishes.

1. Is this your first Emily Henry book or have you read others by her? If not your first, what has been your favorite book of hers, so far? If your first, has she been on your radar before or is this a BOM/Games thing you're reading for?

This was surprisingly my second Emily Henry book but I have read a second now during the challenge. I previously read A Million Junes, but it leans towards YA and Fantasy which I only rated 3 stars! I had this novel on hold for a while at the library and now I want to read all of her books!

2. What do you think so far of the story and the writing?
There is something soothing about Emily's writing, I immediatly was able to make a connection with the characters and just wanted to read more and more.

3. What would you do if you found yourself in the same shoes as Miles and Daphne and were invited to an ex's wedding?!?
No body has time for that, though it is fair when you have similar friend circles it is bound to happen.

4. I love Emily Henry's characters. I always find myself laughing throughout her books. Are you enjoying the characters so far in this one? Anyone in particular an early favorite?

I also love her characters, they are very humanized with flaw that are relatable. I really enjoy how she is able to use her characters to bring other character's walls down so we as the reader get to see more of the characters then what they would want to present on the outside.

I have finished already so I am not going to spoil anything by giving my opinion on the first question! I think when our ex's see us rising again after a breakup, sends some into a bit of a panic. That final realization that they are moving on from them mentally, which is hard for some. I think the statement regarding Peter is more or than often correct as if someone is willing to ruin things so early on, during first impressions, they have a higher capability of doing it a lot easier when things are more comfortable. HOWEVER, some people really freak out at the beginnings of things and will F*** it up and need that second chance. I think this is the more human way of thinking about this statement as no one is perfect, and the way Emily creates her characters, flaws and all, this fits nicely in this narrative, overcoming preconceived expectations.

6. In this section, we learn that the countdown at the start of every chapter is for the Read-a-thon, a reading event Daphne is planning at the library. Did you try to figure out what it was about? What did you think? Or were you just along for the ride, waiting to find to, like I was?

I listened to the audiobook so I do not feel like I picked up on that like I should have. Sometimes I really miss the little details that you get from having a physical book in my hand

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?

I have been a reading nerd for such a long time. My schools growing up did a fantastic job at setting up reading based activities (Reading pajama parties, read-a-thons, contests and when I was in Jr. High, I joined Battle of the Books where we competed against other schools in the area). As an adult I join team challenges and other reading challenges just to push myself when I am not in university and trying to absorb textbooks instead of fun thrillers!

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)

It is hard when you share the same circle of friends, especially when the break up is messy. When we are going through a break up and we need our friends to lean on to recover, this potential divide in friends makes things so much harder. From personal experience, thats when you find out all the juicy details about your ex that people tried to remain Switzerland on

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you?

No quotes specifically that I kept track of unfortunately.

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?

from personal expereince, people's families are more than often a trainwreck in some facet so I understand not wanting to focus on that. At some point, depending on the relationship, it should come out regardless because partners will eventually have to deal with them or the fallout caused in their partners life.

I thought that it was a countdown to her getting her own place and/or moving. But, maybe I just assumed that!

7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to?
I have participated in several virtual ones, but never one where it's like a sleep-over. Dewey's has a 24 hour read-a-thon a few times a year and Bout of Books has a weekly one a few times a year. There was another site that had a 24 in 48, that may have been the site name, not sure. I enjoy the virtual ones, not sure there would be much reading going on at an in person one!

8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!)
I have been in the midst of that type of thing with breakups, where people pick sides (not always intentionally.) But I'm a loner, so I generally didn't go into a relationship with a lot of friends.

9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. That is so true and I wish more people thought like that. There were a few things that made me laugh, and one that made me literally laugh out loud, but I'm not sure which section it was in! So won't post it.

10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it?
Not sure what is up with Miles' family. Family dynamics can be all over the place, so it could be anything. I think their relationship/friendship is pretty new and she seems to be not getting too personal with anything.
