ROUND II: Team Vlad (1125 new)

35559 I'm half done with The Tempest. I think Ariel fits that description. Spark Notes calls him/her/it a "mischievous sprite".

35559 I finished Devil May Care by Elizabeth Peters by Elizabeth Peters. It will work for either names list, I believe.

35559 I just had The God of the Hive show up on OverDrive. It was first published April 27, 2010. It will be a few days before I read it, though. I don't want to rush it. But we can use it if we need to.

It's 4:30 AM here. I'm going to try sleeping again...

We may wish for more of them with some of the goals I have seen the other teams get! lol"

True. I saw one for a book where the MC is a dentist. I couldn't even find one like that anywhere.

Well, shoot. I thought it was 50,000. Turns out I could have counted another book last time... Prince Caspian came in at something like 49995. lol

I'm almost done with the Mary Russel series, too, though I'm trying to stretch it out. I'm expecting withdrawal symptoms when I hit the end of them both. :)

35559 I'm starting another Elizabeth Peters novel, too. I decided she's a good bet since Elizabeth seems to be on all those lists. Devil May Care.

And I have the last of her books in the Amelia Peabody series. But only one more. :(

35559 Well, thanks to some serious insomnia, I've finished The Serpent on the Crown. Use it for which ever goal you want. :)

35559 I can read another Corina Chapman book for Goal 6 if we need it. Devil's Food.

35559 NP. It's getting a little confusing and I was just trying to keep track. It's going to get really hard to keep things straight after we regroup next time.

If you want to add The Silver Chair to Goal #1, it's 11 on that list. For whoever finishes first.

35559 I've finished The Case Is Closed (Miss Silver, #2) by Patricia Wentworth by Patricia Wentworth and The Bible Jesus Read by Philip Yancey by Phillip Yancey. Neither fits a current goal. Perhaps we'll get another Y author. :)

ETA - I thought Sarah finished 1776? It's still listed for one of the goals. If it just hasn't been updated yet, forgive me. Not trying to push. :)

35559 Haha! I'm reading Narnia through in chrono order. The Silver Chair is 52436 words on AR. I can pull it off the shelf and start it this evening. The box set is #11 on the 2005 list.

rofl...

35559 I grabbed the laptop to check my e-mail before heading out to run errands - but I love getting to watch goals being updated in real time. :)

35559 I generally prefer to read non-fiction and listen to genre fiction. If I'm reading a book I can control the pace, and that seems to matter a lot with non-fiction, especially really long history books where are often some sections I want to skim. Then there are other places I want to savor. Easier all around to be reading.

OTOH, I really liked reading The Boys in the Boat and I've heard great things about the audio, too. So I might try it some time. (And I'd listen to Stefan Ridnicki read anything. lol)

Some things in life are more important than reading. Not too many things, mind you, but toilets definitely are. lol

35559 I forgot I came here to say I've finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So that makes two goals completed so far. :)

I'm getting lots of finicky housework done. Things like sorting out my socks and cleaning my closet. So I'll get back to work and keep listening to Serpent on the Crown now...

Good for you for persevering, Sarah. I think the narrator can make or break a book. Who was reading this one?

I'm beginning to think we should always have someone reading a Harry Potter, as often as that box set pops up. :)

35559 I finished The Awakened Heart by Betty Neels which has "Cold Feet" at location 1123 - Goal 5. (He added softly, "Cold Feet, Sophie?")

It was the perfect book to read while starting a sock. I don't usually knit in the summer but I've been craving making socks, which I do for a charity. This book was set in Holland in winter and fit right in with knitting socks, especially when the child fell through the ice and got really cold. :)

Tomorrow I'm doing some serious house cleaning while listening to more Hitchhiker's Guide. :)
