Insomnia is usually a bear, but helpful when it comes to reading! I was able to complete my first book and will list it as read soon on the tracking sheet.
According to the countdown clock, I can start reading in 4 hours, so 5pm east coast time in the US. I still need to finish a book I've been listening to for the past week (not for this challenge), so having a few more hours is good for me. I'll be listening to The Jetsetters for the BOM, so I'd really like to start that one at least by tomorrow.
For those of you who have already been able to start reading, enjoy!
Just one day and some hours until the game starts!!I feel like my books are looking at me with anxious faces saying, "Is it time yet? Come on, come on!" Meanwhile I'm madly trying to finish my current read and some house chores, so I can devote my attention to them. Teehee! Excited for the fun to begin!
Nikk,I tried doing the search for tags according to your directions, but I just got the old spinning wheel and this message from GR..."Goodreads request took too long.
The latest request to the Goodreads servers took too long to respond. We have been notified of the issue and are looking into it."
I know GR site often has issues, so I'll try again later. It's going to be so much faster to search that way, once the site is working! So happy to have this new way!
Wow! Sounds like a lot of us went through some bad stuff in former days of PE. Grateful we at least had individual showers. Middle school has got to be the most awkward stage of development with either feeling like you're too developed or too underdeveloped. Here's to empathy for our daughters and granddaughters in that stage of life and to us for managing to come out as strong, secure women! Well...most of the time! :)
Well girls I was in middle school in the mid 1960s in the US (Ohio) in public schools and we had these horrendous jumpsuits that snapped up the front. They were short style only and no one looked good in them no matter the body type. Also, because it was a jumpsuit (all one piece) you would get the worst wedgie every time you raised your hands overhead for basketball, volleyball, etc. Don’t even want to think about when we had gymnastics in those horrible things! They would ride up and your cheeks would be hanging out for all the boys to goggle especially when vaulting over the horse or on the parallel bars. So mortifying! I was long and lean, so mine would hitch up worse than the shorter girls. Also after showers we had to walk by the PE teacher in a line, open our towel and she would look to see if we were damp to prove we actually had showered. Can you imagine anyone doing that today? So creepy even then, but it was just the way it was for years!

Nikk, you are a freaking genius!!
Dang! Bummer that we didn’t get picked for the DQs. At least we still get points for reading the book and participating in the discussion. I do think the mods try to choose different teams so everyone gets a chance, so maybe next time!
Awesome! This is part of why I love challenges! I've already learned two new things about the GR site thanks to my teammates!! <3
Also, for my two audiobooks I took the page numbers from the top edition on the list (I assume this is the default edition). If that's incorrect, please let me know. I want to make sure I'm claiming the correct number of pages since the points are connected to the numbers. I sure don't want to put too many pages and of course not too few either! :))
Jessi,I would vote for having them on a new tab in the planning sheet, so everything is together, but please do whatever is easiest for you.
Ok then, I will plan on writing the DQ for Five Feet Apart (if I'm chosen).

So smart, Karen! I didn't know about using the control key for it! I looked at 25 pages that way, but no luck. Still, way better than reading the list for 25 pages!
Jessi, If you prefer to do the DQs for both books, it's fine with me. If we divide them up then I'll take the 5 Feet Apart book. I just wanted you to know I could back you up, in case you get on overload with your responsibilities. Fingers crossed you get picked! I know it's just random, although you did volunteer early, so maybe that will help.
Going to take a peek at the planning sheet now! :)

Thanks, Kate! Very helpful!
Joyce ☘ clutteredbooks ☘ wrote: "Are we posting completion posts here or are we getting a thread for it? :)"See Post 8 from Jessi. I think that will answer your question.
I'm a real planner, so I've been posting my "to read" books here. I just want to get the leg work done, so when we can start reading I can use my time to mostly just read.
Two questions:1. How do I search for a tag (such as bacteria) in my book, Five Feet Apart, without having to go through the zillion search pages? I feel someone would have tagged it "bacteria" since the setting is in a hospital.
2. How do I figure out page counts on an audio book? I've searched around, but can't find the count for the books I'm planning to read.
Thanks so much, in advance!

Yay! Another teammate reading the BOM!

Welcome, Karen! I feel honored to be on the same team. I see your name all over GR, so looking forward to getting to know you some. Thanks for creating Wheel for us!
