35559 Vicky - The page count is only one part of the monsters. For the other tasks to vanquish it, it looks like we can use any books that have any pages count. So for example, if someone read a book that covered all over tasks but "find fig in the text" and someone read a book that was a different page range with fig in the text, we can still use it.
It was answered in the Q&As that there is no page limit on books to help us complete the tasks.

Natasha & Laila - we are still looking for teammates so you are both welcome to join :)

35559 I just had a thought... is there a minimum page count for this? I dont remember seeing one, but I also didn't look that close as I remembered most of the rules from Tower. If there isn't then we may be able to use some of my short books for the odd task.

I think I need to take a closer look at the rules again. Maybe I don't remember them as well as I thought.

35559 I think 5 or 6 people would be good. Would make it a bit more relaxed if life makes things difficult for some of us and searching for books should be easier if there are several of us checking.

I'm planning to focus on some shorter books this month before Uno starts. Being almost constantly in team challenges has meant those books too short to count have just been sat there. That said, I don't mind reading one or two longer books this month if they are something that have been sitting on my TBR list for a long time and would fit several tasks.

35559 Hello! I would like to join the team too. As I just mentioned in the Q&A thread, I've got some busy days coming up so I'm not really going to be in a position to help set things up for at least a few days, but I will be able to check this thread regularly on my phone.

I was hoping to read a range of books this year anyway so this will help with that. I will read pretty much any genre although I prefer books with a bit of action or mystery to them and tend to stear away from nonfiction, but I'm not opposed to reading one occasionally.

35559 Great! I'll go say hi, but I probably won't be able to help set much up for a few days as I am travelling tomorrow and then straight back to work the day after so I'm not sure when I will actually have time to get on my laptop.

35559 Thanks Judith. I'll wait and see of anyone wants to team up for now. If not then I will tackle this solo. I enjoyed the monsters part of TT

35559 Sammy and Gabriella, you are both living the book lovers dream! I thought my 100-ish books were a lot, but then again I don't really have suitable space for them at the moment. One day I will have space for many books!

35559 How long will this be going on for?

Also, is there anyone that would want to team up with me? I feel like I'd be more motivated with this if it's more than just me.

35559 Physically own or a mixture of physical, ebooks and audiobooks?
If they are all physical, how do you fit them in your house?! If some are owned electronically then that is a bit more understandable, but that is still a lot! At least you won't struggle to find a book to read anytime soon ;)

35559 So it looks like I didn't write how many I had on my TBR for 2018 and 2019, but in 2020 I started with 906 and by 2021 I managed to get that down to 812. But that year I added so many books and started 2022 with 1,012. Now I'll be starting 2023 with 1,075.

I guess I'll aim to end 2023 with at TBR under 1,000. But book deals are too tempting. I'll just have to be happy getting some of my oldest books read :P
Dec 31, 2022 10:44PM

35559 I learnt to do that so I can keep track. When I'm next on my pc I'll have to see how it has changed over the last few years. I know I was doing well until I found a site that shows me daily deals which has resulted in me picking up many kindle books for free. I know that some of them might not be any good so I'm going to get better at removing books that don't keep my interest in the beginning.

35559 I managed to read 72 when my goal was 70. There are some books I wanted to read but didn't get around to. Maybe I will begin 2023 with those. I didn't really get many physical books read as I moved this year so they spent (and are still there) most of the year in storage. I also deleted close to 300 books from my list, but probably added over that thanks to book deals I find.
I intend to start with a goal of 50 and I will continue to tackle those books I added way back in 2012 as well as some others, trying to read a mixture of physical, audio and ebooks.

Well done everyone who managed to get some of their books of their TBR.
Happy New Year!

35559 I can't say that I've heard of this book before, but that just means I haven't read it before. I'll probably listen to it as an audiobook or maybe as an ebook. I'll do a bit of research and see what's available.
Dec 22, 2022 04:53AM

35559 There was a couple I have already read. Many I hadn't even heard of, but if one of those is chosen I will probably get a copy and join in.

35559 I've failed this 2 years in a row too, Sammy. But I did a lot better in 2022 than I did in 2021 with reading books I had listed. I set a goal of 30 but listed 50 so I had a bit of flexibility. It seemed to help so I'll probably do it again this time.
Dec 20, 2022 06:04AM

35559 In 2022, I managed 12 out of 30. Which was a big improvement on the year before. I'll attempt 30 again. I'll be listing 35 so I have a bit more choice as that seemed to work better for me last year.

35559 Well done team!

I personally feel like I wasn't as helpful as I had planned, but that's life. I got some books read and like others of you have said, it got me nearer to my yearly goal.
I look forward to seeing you in future challenges, although I will be taking a bit of a break from team challenges as I am feeling burnt out. I saw it was announced UNO would return in February which I have always enjoyed so I plan to participate in that as a month an a half(ish) break should be enough.

Happy holidays!

35559 I'm not sure if I will get anymore done in time. It's my boyfriend's grandma's birthday today and my birthday tomorrow so we're probably going to be socialising most of today and tomorrow.
