I was trying to think this morning if Jason had had a brief fling with his northern california counterpart, Shane Donovan. They both like the water and they're in the same line of work...

I agree with you about being a product of its time, so it will be interesting to see how they move forward. I enjoyed the movie, but I did feel like it happened too late.

I think it's because of the parallels with the contemporary socio-political situation that I can't read or watch the show.

Yes, it really is. I don't mind the fireworks on the 4th and I've even got used to them on New Year's Eve, But WTH with the weeks before and after??? It's ridiculous.

Same. Between the aftershocks and the fireworks STILL ONGOING Marlowe has been a little wreck.

That's the weird paradigm shift in writing right now. That for an increasingly large segment of "creatives" it's NOT about writing, it's about producing. It's about product.

For old school writers like me, that's an impossible jump. I don't want to be a conveyor belt or a jukebox. I actually love the creative process. I love writing. Even when I hate it, I love it.

But then I didn't get into this business to get rich.

Also I feel like you've come up with some practical and inexpensive solutions for their entertainment. (The idea of just being able to color for a few undisturbed hours sounds like heaven to me.)

It sounds like a super productive trip--and I'm glad you made it home safely before the storm struck!
