The best thing about today... I get to go home a..."
Happy Belated Birthday, Jordan! I hope you had all the ice cream you could eat. :-) AND a nice long, restful break.

Our pond sprung a rip and we had to get a bricklayer to lay a new lining.
Today we got oxigenating weed and plants, iris, water lilies, snails and two Japanese 'pedigree' koi. I chose a red an..."
They are truly beautiful.

No time off since Christmas! Yikes!

Humor is SO tricky. So often a line I nearly cut will end up being a ROFL for a reader, and it's just bewildering. Or something I thought was SO funny at ten o'clock at night, is just...WTH when I go back to edit at eight a.m. :-D

Still essentially two - three months of summery weather left (usually October is pretty mild) so I plan on taking full advantage of some belated summertime.
Three things I want to make time for:
Reading
Cleaning out my office
Planning next year's schedule
But also drinking wine in the evening on my patio with the SO, more afternoon swims, more night swims, more gardening, more chasing Marlowe, more lunches with my sisters...

Thank you for posting the link. Do we know anything about the print version?"
Hopefully, we'll have it available for order within the week.

Ugh. That's awful.

“Mother thinks she’s found the perfect housekeeper for us,” John said on the drive back to Greenwich Street. “Some woman she befriended at church.”
“Do you think we need a housekeeper?”
“Yes.” John glanced at me. “I’ve seen your place.”
Having also seen my place, I did not take offense. “Still, I think I’d rather find my own housekeeper.”
“It won’t hurt to interview her, will it? You’ll be at the house tomorrow anyway with the movers.”
I said indifferently, “Sure. If that’s what you’d like.”
John’s head turned my way. “Everything okay?”
“Iff and Kolchak think I murdered Seamus.”
John was silent for so long that I knew this was not coming as any news to him. I stared at his profile.
He said, “Try not to take it personally.”
“Try not to…”
“There’s a fair bit of circumstantial evidence pointing in your direction. That’s all. Iff and Kolchak are two of the best detectives on the force. Even though they’re starting the investigation with a certain amount of bias, they’ll keep digging until they’ve got to the truth.”
“You’re taking this very calmly.”
“No, I’m not.” His tone was grim. “But getting mad about it won’t change anything.”
The bleak note in his voice caused me to revise my initial opinion. He was not remotely okay with this.
“Do you think I killed Seamus?”
After what felt like a very long moment, he said, “I don’t think so, no.”
He had been giving it plenty of thought though. Did that make his conclusion better or worse?
“For the record, I did not kill him.”
“For the record, again, I don’t think you did. But you are hiding something.”
I said bitterly, “Isn’t everyone hiding something?”

That was not exactly a heart-warming fare-thee-well, either. Yeesh.

Unfortunately, it's..."
Sure. And I've supported you right back. :-)
I do sincerely hope DSP can weather this. Diversity in the market is so much better for readers and writers.
The bad news is that nothing stays the same. But then again, that's also the good news.

Uh oh. Welllllll, it looks like I'm rethinking my latest proposal to Carina. I think Angie was the girl with the vision there.

He is a complete jerk in Winter Kill.
Although he does hold steady under fire.
But he's also really new and really raw at that point. I like to think Sam's contempt for him had a salutary effect. :-D
