:-D Hey. It's quality not quantity, right?

Wow!

And I've just hauled out the box of Christmas CDs. :-D
Listening to MIDNIGHTS (a gift from the SO--to the eternal disgust of my songwriter little sister). :-D Hey. I totally, unashamedly enjoy Swift's work.
We watched SEE HOW THEY RUN the other night on Amazon. I LOVED it. We both did. It was pitch perfect as far as historical detail and especially delightful (playful) if you're a hardcore Christie fan. Hugely anticipating GLASS ONION, the sequel to Knives Out. It seems like there's quite an appetite for classic mystery right now. Which makes me so very happy.
Karen wrote: "I'm reading about 6 books at this time... well partially through six books. I'll post more when/if I finish them. :)"I do this sometimes. It doesn't tend to bode well for finishing anything. :-D :-D :-D
I'm a bit disappointed at how little fiction reading I did this year. I started out well, but then...
And I know I say this every year--I think we all say this every year--but holy moly this year passed in a blink.

Also, the SO and I were so outraged by the (we felt) manipulative "ending," we never tuned in again.

H-H-Hilarious?!!!!
D-D-Did you just say Boyle and Bodie are HILARIOUS!!?
Speaking as someone who bought the region-free DVD player when it was still sort of complicated, you've got to admit, The Pros are pretty entertaining. ;-D

Well, so much for my good intentions!
But honestly, the results of the election were so much less worse (er, better?) than I'd anticipated, that I actually feel almost...hopeful again? Like there is such a thing as commonsense? Maybe it's not as common as we'd hoped, but it does still sometimes prevail?
I think there are two factors that lead us so perilously close to an unnecessary civil war (speaking as someone who is also not satisfied with the direction many things are going, but who understands that you can't remain a nation state without everyone--EVERYONE--making compromises):
1 - Social media - and how easily it's manipulated
2 - An increasingly self-righteous embrace of incivility and intolerance--from both sides.
Happily, I've got a mile-long list today (including trying to get an Indian Hawthorne bush into the front garden before the ground freezes) so I'll spare you all the impending diatribe. ;-D
I've been pretty scarce the last couple of weeks, despite my best intentions. I need to learn--well, l need to accept--that this time of year is very bad for writing. Not because I don't feel creative. Weirdly enough, this time of year is ultra-creative for me. But I run out of time.
First off, there's all the end-of-year business to deal with. Secondly, there's Thanksgiving to host (which...I'm not sure why fancy dinner for 12 turns into a major overhaul of the house and garden every year, but somehow it does) and then there are the holidays.
Inevitably, I find myself racing to finish a last project or two--this year, it's Lament at Loon Landing--and it becomes overwhelming thru the first couple of weeks into December.
So I wanted to be sure to pop in and wish everyone celebrating Thanksgiving, a very happy holiday. And to everyone else, I wish you a great start to the winter festivities. I'll be sporadic in my visits for the next week or so, but I'm planning to be back in time to read
(I started it a couple of nights ago, and it's quite amusing.)

Woohooo!!! Thank you again for taking this on, Karen!

What I am not watching is the news.I started to fall back into that obsessive can't-look-away-or-the-world-will-fall-out-of-the-sky thing. But I stopped myself. I've done what I can. I contributed money, I voted, I contributed more money. What will be will be. And we will survive as best we can until the revolution.
HA. I hope I'm kidding.
UNSOLVED (Season 3) is finally back. And it seems to be living up to the previous two seasons. The latest incarnation of DISAPPEARED is uneven, but still enjoyable. So much has changed investigation-wise since it first aired in 2010 then I think in several cases it would more aptly be named NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE YET TO CHARGE.
Over Halloween weekend we watched Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2. We'd never seen either before. They were amusing. I think I preferred the first to the second.
The SO bought me Taylor Swift's new album. :-D But I like her! I make no apologies. I haven't had a chance to listen yet.

We're enjoying Recipes for Love and Murder a lot, but we do seem to take our time getting back to it.

202 pages, so a fairly quick read. It looks like a nice classic mystery--and I just missed accidentally reading the ending. LOL.
CLOSE CALL.
