Review:
I have been sitting here trying to figure out what to say and how to rate this book. I really wish Goodreads had a half star rating. This wasn't quite 5 for me (for a 5 star my emotions need to be a bit more engage ie.. full out laughter, tears in my eyes, or a bit of both), but it was definitely a 4.5 star read.

It was sexy, and full of angst. Not really a romance, but definitely erotic fiction.

Donovan and Sabrina are perfect for each other, as far as the sex goes, not sure I know enough about either, especially Donovan, to know rather or not they would be perfect for each other outside of that. Still, Laurelin Paige made want to root for them to be together. Two people who are a bit broken coming together to mend themselves and each other.

I really could have done without Weston, but I am hoping that eventually he gets his own story. I think that story would have a completely different tone, since the darkness of Donovan and Sabrina story doesn't seem to fit who Weston has been portrayed to be, but fits D & S like a glove.

I am looking forward to the next installment, after finding out Donovan's little secret (which probably surprised no one) at the end of this story. I want to know what MADAR has to do with him, because of the way he reacted when Sabrina mentioned it will most likely be a doozy.

This book, like the others in this series was funny, sexy, and action packed, but also heart wrenching at times.
Cat's secret is revealed to an unlikely source, who I wanted to slap because of the way this person tested the theory before Cat admits what it is.

All of my favs were present and accounted for, except for one that I just now noticed have been MIA for the last few books I have read in this world.

I never really know what to say when a book is really good, since my five star rating should basically speak for itself, but I will say whenever I read a book in this series the world building reminds me of reading a book by Nalini Singh (Psy-Changeling series). The world feels real and it always seems like there could actually be these mythically beings out there in the world somewhere.

Plus the author has done such a good job of creating these characters because Cat and Bones are so funny, but at the same time know when to put that aside and get down to business on and off the battlefield.

I have been hoping that Mencheres finds his true love, especially after the "wife" that he had and everything that she did. (Mentioned in this book, but more detailed in the Night Huntress series, if you are following the reading order of the Night Huntress Universe found on the author's website, then you have already read about it.)

Anyway, back to Mencheres and his true love Kira. These two were absolutely perfect for each other, especially given Mencheres age and position, because Kira was no shrinking violet. She was strong, loyal, and funny as all get out.

The chemistry was off the charts, and when they came together it was crazy.

My favorite thing about this book, and their story is the way Kira's "life" was handled after the major changes that it went through.
Plus, it is always awesome to get Bones and Cat in any situation.

I rather liked this story, even though Colin was a bit of jerk and Sybil was at times too good to be believed.

It was funny, sexy, romantic....

Plus, you can rather understand Colin being a bit jerky, and distrustful when it comes to women. What I didn't understand in the beginning was why he was going to settle for someone who he knew was using him or at least someone he knew didn't love him or really care about him. We are living in a time where men can be playboys and don't have to settle, because it isn't like in the olden days when land and property were entailed, he could just have a will drawn up to leave everything to his sister or her kids or something.

That's why it was so great that Sybil came along.

Sybil was this sweet ditz, who on one hand didn't believe in the magic she was raised to believe in, but felt in her soul that she would meet and fall in love with her one true love.

This she does, but it is not a problem free journey.

By this point I am too through with both Olivia and Noah. I only finished this book because I wanted the closure that came along with finishing a series.

I didn't really like Olivia through most of the series, she just seemed cold most of the time. And Noah, that crap you were contemplating pulling at the end of book 2 made me less sympathetic to what you were going through.

I may have been able to overlook all that if I could figure out why Noah was in love with Olivia in the first place. I got this far and am still scratching my head about that.

I don't know how a book can make me laugh at the same time have only two characters on the whole that I actually liked: Bee and as an extension, Bernadette.

Seeing Bernadette through Bee's eyes makes me like her more than I may have otherwise. This young girl loves her mother, and it is clear to see that Bernadette felt the same.

Elgin (EB) seems to believe everything everyone else says about Bernadette, and this is a women he has supposedly been in love with for years. I disliked him more than anyone else. Especially after (view spoiler)

At the end I would have liked to see how Bernadette responded to EB's news with his admin. Would she have still had thoughts of forgiving him? I think that would have gave me closure to know how life actually proceeded for everyone after Bernadette comes home.

Review:
The 3 stars I gave this book are all for Temple.

I have had a love for him since first "meeting" him, and this book just made me love him more. The problem is that I didn't like Mara.

Temple has been thought of as the Killer Duke for 12 years, while all along this hussy was actually alive. I understand her motivation, but I can never forgive her for not coming forward when she realized that her plans went awry. To add insult to injury her brother, who knew Temple was innocent, helped people buy into the accusations, when he could have easily said that he thought Temple was innocent without spilling he and his sister secrets. Everyone would have thought she was dead, but if someone from her family had been on Temple's side things may have been different for him.

I also didn't like the way she seemed, at least in my opinion, to belittle everything that her actions put him through. I was seriously calling her all types of b!tches throughout the course of this book.

This series keeps getting better and better. I went from disliking Valerus due to the previous stories of Kyrian and Zarek, to being completely in love with him and wanting to kick Kyrian and Zarek's asses for being so single-minded.

Valerus and Tabitha are so good for each other. They really are the perfect pair.

Since this is Valerus's story we got more on his history, and a different view point from previous heroes' histories. Added bonus was getting more info about Acheron. I will probably go crazy when I finally get to that book. More Nick, who I also love and a big shift in his relationship with Acheron, that leaves you wondering will the best friends survive.

Anyway, this was a beautiful told love story with amazing world building. It was also heart wrenching in parts. If you can't tell, I will definitely be continuing with the rest of the series.

Review:
This one picks up a few days after the last book ended. Olivia has left Noah to deal with the fallout of her actions with the press. Those of us who read the last book know why she left, but Noah assumes it's for an entirely different reason.

Now she is back and needing his help. (Which she should have asked for in the first place.) He complies and then it is back to the status quo.

By the end the two have gotten closer, but there is still a secret left that has not been disclosed.

I didn't like Olivia much in this book. Noah's actions clearly states how he feels about her, but she continues to treat him like a second class citizen. Regardless, I thought that his actions toward the end were a bit reprehensible, and he should have practiced full disclosure.
