1. Harry Dresden, cause he seems pretty damn cool.
2. Mercy Thompson, ditto
3. Bella Swan, cause I want to bitchslap some sense into her. Ugh.
4. Anita Blake, woman needs an intervention for being gross
Ok, I'm having trouble coming up with others. I keep thinking, "Oh, there's someone I want to meet." Then I think, "Well, wait. Not for the right reasons." Haha! I'm a dirty, dirty girl.

That being said, I've been forced to completely separate the show and the books in my mind. If I do that I enjoy the show much more. If I don't, I get pissed off. I spend a lot of time pissed off. :-P But I still won't get rid of my HBO subscription. Haha!

Get that harp out, baby, and start practicing. You may not be anybody's first choice to take to Vegas for the weekend. And "boring" might sometimes slip into the way you're described, but you'll definitely be "moving on up" when you head to your truly final destination.

Cons:
*Obnoxious and rude heroine (she improved towards the end, but not a great first impression)
*The conflicts (of which there were many cause the heroine was a bitch) were kinda anti-climatic. They were often solved by a good, old-fashioned screw (pardon my crudity).
*The villians were comical. I think they were meant to be, but I would have enjoyed it more if they weren't.
Pros:
*Ummmm. I guess I enjoyed the interactions with the gods on Olympus.
I highly suspect I wasn't in the mood for this book right now. I'm definitely in a reading rut and having trouble being interested in anything this month. Cranky, cranky, cranky... :-P

Apparently I'm going to need to try this Kate Daniels series. Seems like it's awesomesauce. I have the first book on my wishlist at paperbackswap.com so hopefully I'll be able to get it soon.

All that to say, you are in for a treat Moss. :-D

Word. I'm a big Buffy and Firefly fan.
Also, (stealing some from Steph's list): The X-Files, Star Wars, Independence Day, Inception, and Underworld. Possibly my absolute favorite fantasy trilogy is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I am super-psyched about The Hobbit being made into a movie.

ETA: Am I really the designated chip placement requester???

And Goodreads is irritating the daylights outta me too.
