33903 Not sure I have 10, but here's a few (a couple have been shamelessly stolen).

1. Harry Dresden, cause he seems pretty damn cool.
2. Mercy Thompson, ditto
3. Bella Swan, cause I want to bitchslap some sense into her. Ugh.
4. Anita Blake, woman needs an intervention for being gross

Ok, I'm having trouble coming up with others. I keep thinking, "Oh, there's someone I want to meet." Then I think, "Well, wait. Not for the right reasons." Haha! I'm a dirty, dirty girl.

33903 I've heard it said that Harris has no control over what Alan Ball does to True Blood. I'm pretty sure it was an article somewhere in which she said (to paraphrase), "It's his baby." She gets a "created by" credit, but that's the extent of her involvement, IIRC. (A mistake if you ask me.)

That being said, I've been forced to completely separate the show and the books in my mind. If I do that I enjoy the show much more. If I don't, I get pissed off. I spend a lot of time pissed off. :-P But I still won't get rid of my HBO subscription. Haha!

33903 Aw man! I'm boring (and also a goody two-shoes)! Just like Judithe and Amy. :-P I wish I could say I was surprised. LOL. I knew I was boring, this just confirms it. *snort*

Get that harp out, baby, and start practicing. You may not be anybody's first choice to take to Vegas for the weekend. And "boring" might sometimes slip into the way you're described, but you'll definitely be "moving on up" when you head to your truly final destination.

33903 I finished Utter Cupidity by Toni L. Meilleur last night (06/20/11) I'm giving it ★★1/2. I was ok. Just ok. Readable, but not particularly interesting. If I didn't have to read it for C4 it probably would have been constantly set aside for other books.
Cons:
*Obnoxious and rude heroine (she improved towards the end, but not a great first impression)
*The conflicts (of which there were many cause the heroine was a bitch) were kinda anti-climatic. They were often solved by a good, old-fashioned screw (pardon my crudity).
*The villians were comical. I think they were meant to be, but I would have enjoyed it more if they weren't.
Pros:
*Ummmm. I guess I enjoyed the interactions with the gods on Olympus.

I highly suspect I wasn't in the mood for this book right now. I'm definitely in a reading rut and having trouble being interested in anything this month. Cranky, cranky, cranky... :-P
33903 I think I'll try for all categories. Can't hurt anything. LOL

33903 I was wondering about the "How much white is a white cover?" question myself. I have a couple of backup covers that I'm considering, including In Bed With the Devil (Scoundrels of St. James, #1) by Lorraine Heath or Once Dead, Twice Shy (Madison Avery, #1) by Kim Harrison .

ETA: Of course, with those to books next to each other, In Bed With the Devil looks pink, so never mind about that one. :-P

33903 I'll read Utter Cupidity by Toni L. Meilleur by Toni L. Meilleur for the deity category (Cupid being a Roman god). It has lousy reviews so I hope it's not too stupid. LOL

33903 That would be super cool Cindy. I'm crysstine on PBS.

33903 I'm enjoying my vacation. Thanks for asking Steph! I really really really needed a break from work. I'm so stressed out there that I swear my hair is falling out. I think it's about to get worse too as I'm pretty sure they are going to make me 2nd shift supervisor. *sigh* More pay = more stress.

Apparently I'm going to need to try this Kate Daniels series. Seems like it's awesomesauce. I have the first book on my wishlist at paperbackswap.com so hopefully I'll be able to get it soon.

33903 I only first read Moon Called in January. Then I promptly went out and bought the next books. I haven't acquired/read River Marked yet (I'm too cheap to pay that much). I can't believe I waited so long to start that series. I have given each book 5 stars. I have the first book from Briggs' Alpha and Omega series. I need to get that read to tide me over till River Marked is a bit cheaper.

All that to say, you are in for a treat Moss. :-D

33903 Gonna try posting this on my phone while I have good coverage. Pardon any typos. I finished Blameless last night (06/14/11). I'm giving it ★★★★. I'm really enjoying this series so much. I'm glad I tried it. This book lost a star for me because there was very little Lord Maccon. Other than that it was action packed and full of twists (one in particular that I never saw coming, but still find very intriguing). I don't want to spoil things to much but needless to say I am very much looking forward to the next book. I went ahead and pre-bought it and will probably read it as soon as it is delivered to my kindle.

33903 Hey, does anyone know if enough of Blameless (The Parasol Protectorate, #3) by Gail Carriger takes place in London to qualify it as an urban setting? If so then that's what I'll read. If not then I'll keep going through my other ebooks.

Word. I'm a big Buffy and Firefly fan.

Also, (stealing some from Steph's list): The X-Files, Star Wars, Independence Day, Inception, and Underworld. Possibly my absolute favorite fantasy trilogy is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I am super-psyched about The Hobbit being made into a movie.

33903 Hello all. I just finished Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh (06/08/11). I'm giving it ★★★★. I actually really enjoyed it a lot. It had a bit of a slow start, in my opinion, which is why it lost a star. I'm looking forward to reading more in the series (just what I need, another series to collect, LOL). I kinda thought the bad guy was a smidge too obvious. I really liked that Sascha would tell Lucas to shove it sometimes (and occasionally she would literally shove him with her mind). Loved her spunk once she let down her walls.

ETA: Am I really the designated chip placement requester???

33903 Red Rum! Love it! Nice and threatening.

33903 I'm going to jump in and claim a spot. A person can never be in too many challenges, right?
Jun 04, 2011 10:08PM

33903 I like True Bloods. There's a dragon team, so we need vampires (and as Team RED, I feel this comes naturally.) But it really doesn't matter to me.

And Goodreads is irritating the daylights outta me too.

33903 I'm starting the game out with Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh which I believe fulfills both categories. Cuz that's the way I roll. (Also it has a purple cover for the June monthly challenges. Score!)
