Blue crystals glowed down lower in the caverns lighting up the pathway, finally the clock struck 3. At first it was just a distant creak but soon it grew louder, a cart was coming down the path.

Within half of an hour they were ready with the ambush. Two side of a great underground path were watched with fervor. Now, all that was left was to wait for Taylor to arrive. They'd sent spies and according to them, Taylor was scheduled to enter down this pathway tonight.

Andy drew out a hand sickle. "She's our first and most important target." he said with a determined look on his face.

((Oh, I forgot to describe Andy, sorry. He's a really skinny guy, very lanky. A boy in late adolescence. Someone who hasn't entirely grown into their own body. I'll try to find a pic that fits his description.))
Andy glanced at her, his eyes were still suspicious but he seemed more settled into the idea that he would be interacting with her. "I don't know. He's disappeared. It'll soon be time to go though. If that happens his orders are clear no matter what happens we need to strike tonight." he sighed, "Whether he here or not."

When Derey arrived at her destination a group of people were formed. There was Andy and quite a few others but Calum was nowhere in sight.

Rather-Fellow grumbled and disappeared into the stone. It sounded like he was saying something about how much trouble gnomes got when they were nice.

Rather-Fellow was silent and then a clock chimed in the hall, midnight. It was time.

Rather-Fellow grew silent, "That would be tragic. If a Guardian gave up her power just to live. Especially the Ruby, stone of individuality, the last to hold it was such a strong-willed hopeful person, willing to do anything to save these people. It would be a shame if his heir were a coward."

Taylor's eyes were darkened as she listened in the black. Every night it seemed she was drawn here, a combination of lack of sleep because of the nightmares and this magnetic pull always had her on edge. She'd been a strong person back in her own world, she knew that much. However she'd gotten here she didn't know, now all she knew was that serving
that Lord was all she knew now. All that mattered. All she was allowed to think of. It had become her.

Rather-Fellow laughed, "You got me there, but. . .if she has betrayed us why do you think she did it?"

Rather-Fellow went silent, then he said in a rather offended voice, "How do you think she's moving around dead on her feet then?"

Rather-Fellow snorted, "Well obviously she's not dead. You just saw her now. A person can't move around while being dead. It's just impossible."

Rather-Fellow paused. "I wasn't going to tell you this because I wasn't sure, and she was your friend but. . .There's something strange about Taylor. Something about her just smells
wrong. Usually around every being I can sense their living patterns, like who does a lot of physical exercise and who just sits around. I can sense a type of aura around them but. . .I can't feel anything from her. I've watched her, she just feels so lifeless when I try to sense anything."
((By the way I forgot to add that Calum told them there was going to be a final strike that night. She's to meet them a midnight in that same hallway where she met Andy only further down.))

Later. . .in Derey's room.
Rather-Fellow spoke up from inside the stone. "Do really believe that Taylor betrayed us. I don't know much but from seeing your reaction to meeting her it seemed to me that you two were friends."

Laurel stared into the fire. 3 months. . .they had that long? It just wasn't enough, but if they didn't they would die.

Calum nodded, "This is serious. If he gains more of the Guardian's power then we'll all be deadmen." he held out his hand. "We're moving on things tonight. Are you with us?"

Driden was in extreme pain. The whip marks riddled his body and they burned so bad that he couldn't move and could only scream at the pain. The man grabbed his hair and pulled back his head violently. "You little
fool. You were supposed to capture her, kill her. I should
kill you, you pathetic excuse for a guardian."
Driden could barely breath, but in his anger he managed, "Then why haven't you?"
That stopped the man, he smiled and let go of Driden's hair. "We've been. . .saving you for a special time. Now that you've proved useless for anything else why don't we do exactly that." the man's eyes were wild, insane. "Then My Lord will be free again to reign terror on this decrepit race you've been so weak at trying to protect."

His face softened a bit, "I'd give you my condolences but things are about to get much worse than that. The Myst gained power recently. About a month ago it gained a sudden power-jump. We're not sure where it got it but we know it's bad. We've got 3 months tops before the seal breaks if it continues at this pace."
A sad look entered his eyes, "Actually we can only think of one thing that could have boosted it's power. If. . .it absorbed the power of a Gemstone holder, by killing that person, then the seal would be less effective on it. Naomi's been missing for months now, we're worried that that may be. . .the case."

His face remained as stony as before but there was a less sharp way in his movements. He turned to her, "To be blunt this isn't a very safe person for you right now. This. . .whole entire place is a sham, the myst's way of rooting out the trouble-makers, and the person who is at the center of it, working for
it, is that girl Taylor. That was why I attacked you, Black Opal Derey, because most people she brings are
his."

Calum looked quizzically at her again and took her hand. There was a slight tilt upward to his mouth and he turned away, "I'll take you to your room but before we leave here there is something important you need to know about this place before you go any farther."
