It was still dark when they arrived back at the cabin but dawn would be upon them within the next hour. Laura woke up enough to drag herself in to the bunk bed in the back bedroom. Matt forced himself to check in and around the cabin before he too found his bed.

It was nearly noon when Laura woke up. She could hear a low snore coming from the other bedroom which told her Matt was still sleeping. She went to the bathroom and took care of her morning requirements.

A few minutes later found her in the kitchen rummaging to find appropriate breakfast items, though a look at the clock indicated it was lunch time. She managed to locate the ingredients for pancakes and coffee. The coffee was done and the pancakes were nearly so when Matt finally rose and she could hear the water running in the bathroom. How was she going to be able to thank him for saving her? Obviously, she was going to have to swallow her pride and try and get along with him. Laura just couldn’t get the thought of his roving ways out of her mind. Sure, it was none of her business if he chose to sleep with every woman he met or even half of them. She didn’t have to join in. No matter how much his eyes reminded her of the hot, dark, strong coffee she just made or his hair, the only soft thing on his entire body. Well, it didn’t hurt anyone to look, right?

Laura kept her attention on the pancakes as Matt entered the room. She refused to allow herself the pleasure. Scared, too, that he may see the attraction in her eyes. If not for the information her brother had given her, she could easily see herself fall for this guy.

“Are you hungry?” she asked. “Pancakes are just about done. There’s coffee, too.”

“Uh, yes, coffee. Thanks.”

Matt headed straight to the coffee maker and poured himself a cup. He took his black with one sugar. He never could resist that bit of sweetest in his coffee. He noticed Laura’s cup was also without creamer and wondered if she also took sugar in hers.

“Need a refill?” he offered.

“Sure, just a bit. Please.” He filled her cup and watched as she added one small teaspoon of sugar to her coffee. Interesting. Matt wondered if this was how the entire day was going to go. He almost wished for the quarrelsome, sarcastic brat back.

hmmm, goodnight and come back soon! I want more!
