24794 It was even worse that Julia was as changed as he was. So sad to see a person's spirit crushed!

24794 I was trying to come up with a way of reading this behemoth and maybe, reading a general 200 pages is the way to go. My copy is by Modern Library and has 1386 pages. So, Part 1-Part 3: (1-220pg), Part3-5(221-469), Part6-8(470-686),Part9-10(687-936),Part11-13(937-1172),
Part 14-End(1173-1386).
I would try to start reading today and read the first installment over the course of two weeks. Then, reading a new part every 2 weeks. Does that make sense? That way everyone can have an idea of where we are at. I think I just confused myself!

After scanning it, it does not seem to bad. Not like reading a 1000 pages of Shakespeare!
Two weeks to read 1000 pages? Wow, I must say I read
Les Misérables, but it took me quite awhile. This is the biggest book I've tackled in years.

Yes, I'm only about 1/2 way through 1984, but I'm going to jump in and see how it goes! Please don't get overwhelmed! Don't want to burn anyone out! We can always make it a longer time period, as well!

24794 Got my copy and it is the Modern Library edition. 1386 pages*gulp*. Mine seems to be split into parts, so do we want to read around 100 pages a week, or is that to much? That would be around 7 weeks if my math is right.

24794 LOL, I don't think that watching the movie counts! Although it does sounds like a good cast!:)

24794 How about Catcher in the Rye, Frankenstein, A Farewell to Arms or Of Mice and Men? Just some ideas to toss around. Jane Eyre and Sherlock sounds great also!

24794 Ok, started a separate thread for WP so anything about that can go over there for ease of view! I just put dates in there so I could add the book and thread. Those can be changed at any time!
