24794 I could be off base since I have yet to even start the book, but when I read War and Peace, the aristocracy all spoke French as a way to separate themselves from the lower classes. Even in that book, the Russian's seem to be really enamored with the French. Just an observation that I remember from that book.

24794 I have to agree with you Vicky it is a matter of taste. I guess my taste does not run to Faulkner, but he does have an interesting writing style so I can see why he is relevant.

I tried something new this time, so I did not send out an email, but for the next one I will. I would have to agree with you Gayle, about the amount of people participating, the poll votes went from 95 to 35 so that was interesting. Of course, it could be that we had good books to choose from as well! :)
