222868 I'm actually enjoying Wicked Abyss. Yeah, it's probably not as good as the books up to Lothaire (which was the pinnacle IMHO) but still very readable. The Kresley Cole wit is still there and the sexy times. I like Sian and Lila but the character who is really appealing is the dragon shifter Uthyr, I love the picture of him swimming backstroke enjoying and frolicking in the lava river. With the mystery of why he won't change back into human form I hope he gets his own book soon.

222868 Congratulations Holly. So, what retirement plans do you have other than reading a ton of books? Am I remembering right that you just downsized your home?

222868 Vanessa, what a great effort. The true essence of friendship.

Lyme disease is a controversial subject in Australia, our Doctors do not recognise it here despite numerous patients presenting with symptoms. I think we have a different species of tick. My daughter had one on her a couple of weeks ago whilst bushwalking, thankfully a first aid trained person was with them and removed the tick in one piece.

222868 We've made it to 2018 down under. Happy NEw Year all, hope it's a great year for us all.

My book of the Year for 2017 was Feversong (Fever, #9) by Karen Marie Moning by Karen M Moning. I read just about every genre these days and my other favourites were in romantic suspense (just about everything I read by Sandra Brown) and Susan Fanetti and Lauren Gilley ( OMC Contemporary)

My first book reading for 2018 is The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins which I thought I'd hate.. but is surprisingly good. Well, I guess the millions of readers who have read it before me can't be wrong, LOL.

222868 I caught the Doctor Who Christmas special as well and thought it was a good bye to a couple of characters including Capaldi. Really liked the tie in to the Lethbridge-Stewarts for all those fans of the original series. And David Bradley was great as the original Doctor.

I agree Vinity, David Moffitt is a great writer but I did lose a bit of interest in the storylines under his reign. But to be fair that was probably because Peter Capaldi was not my favourite Doctor by a long shot. I'm pretty open minded about a female Doctor though.

222868 Thanks Vinity. I haven't downloaded it yet because I'm at our farm where I have to ration my internet. (Long story, we can only get wireless here and its expensive). I intend to kindle it when I get back to the city next week.

222868 Phew, Foxtail.. I'm glad someone else liked it. I was feeling a bit alone, LOL.

Lulu, I did puzzle about the Princess Leia in space bit, but then I figured that she used The Force to create an oxygen bubble and propel her back to the ship. Stranger things have happened!

Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings all. Hope you spend the next couple of days with the people you love.. and a good book of course.

222868 Happy, lots of people have enjoyed it, maybe it was just me. Although my daughter and her boyfriend were disappointed as well.

That's interesting. I thought the humour level in Star Wars was fine and I laughed quite a bit whereas Thor was just silly and way over the top.

I don't bother much with Amazon anymore only to buy books for my kindle. All my reviews are on Goodreads and I don't review that much anymore either.

Here, Here. She is a young Australian writer who lives in country Victoria, is a good writer and really connects with her readers too. I didn't get the anthology just one clicked this book yesterday so I'll try and read over the holidays and leave a review. She is planning an ongoing series for this one as well.

222868 It's always interesting what appeals/doesn't appeal to different people.

While I liked Star Wars, I was really disappointed in Thor: Ragnarok, it was terrible especially after how good the previous one had been.

And thanks LAB. Have one clicked the new Bec McMaster.

222868 Back from Star Wars. I really enjoyed it... nothing will be as good as the first three but still really entertaining and setting up for a big finish of this trilogy. It was sad seeing Carrie Fisher. I was 13 when the first one came out, they all were so young and now looking so old.. as am I, LOL.

222868 Finished The Last True Hero (Burned Lands, #2) by Bec McMaster by Bec McMaster.

A solid 4 star read. I liked the references to what happened to Vegas after the Darkening. She obviously cherry picked a lot of previously done ideas (eg Stephen King, Mad Max) and then added her own Bec McMaster style to craft a really readable novel.

222868 Finally starting a PNRish book for the first time in I don't know how long. I seem to be reading a lot of romantic suspense/thrillers lately with a dash of historicals.

That's great news, Vinity. I checked Amazon and no pre-orders up yet. I'll make a note to check back on Christmas Eve. I hope us Aussie readers will be able to buy it.

222868 Melindeeloo, we've been watching those fires on the news here...they are intense. Are they unseasonal? Hope all is well for all you guys living in that area.

I think I'll wait till Bec McMaster publishes Heart of Fire by its self.

And I'm pretty sure Maiden Lane is finished but I think I read that Elizabeth Hoyt is working on a new historical romance series.
