So probably Romina is going to be a heroine, maybe as a Shellan to say Luchas but I think it's more likely as the main character of her own book.
And yes, Wrath was great. JR has developed him into the epitome of leadership.

Yeah, I really like her storytelling, despite some of the bugs in her writing like her product placement and 21st century jargon that does bother some readers. But not me, I just skim over that stuff.
Thought it was interesting how she made quite a few references to the patient screaming with Assail next up in The Thief. And she must be getting ready to bring Qhuinn's brother Luchas into the story as a front runner with page time dedicated to him.

Thanks Foxtail for the refresh. I knew it had something to do with him saving his brother but I couldn't remember all the details. I am toying up with going back and re-reading the first arc of the series up to Lover At Last, I have forgotten so many other details. First time around I hated Phury's book, wonder if I will change that opinion on a re-read.
I finished Blood Fury a couple of days ago and really liked it. As much as I still love the series proper it is nice to go back and read the simpler two couples plotline and the second chance at love theme they both shared. Chat more when you ladies are finished.
Douglas wrote: "re: Once Upon a Marquess thought I posted this but it went into space it seems :)
I read the reviews and many people thought the previous series Brothers Sinister was much better?..."Yes, I agree. So far the writing for the Brothers Sinister was better IMHO.
Lulu wrote: "Really good news for those of us who read The Sentinel Wars! Shannon K. Butcher has surfaced and there is a new Sentinel Wars novella and book coming out this year!
This is from her newsletter a l..."Thanks so much Lulu for passing that on. I have been toying with giving away my paperback copies of that series because it looked like it would never be finished but I'll hold off now.

I'm getting to the end now and I have enjoyed it very much. I still love all the threads and storylines in the series proper but just the two stories in this one
(view spoiler)[ with their theme of second chance love have been really heart warming and romantic. It's not very often after love triangles you see what happens to the person who misses out. It's good to see Peyton, Novo and especially Saxton opening up and risking their hearts to find love again. And for Ruhn to find love after such a hard life. (hide spoiler)]
Vanessa wrote: "Thanks Lisa for starting this, we might need to use it for other books."Good idea. It will keep the main thread tidier.
Vanessa wrote: "Lisa... Sorry that it didn't fit the criteria. Mandy Roth has a series about Avian shifters, also didn't one or two of the "Breeds" books have them in them? It wasn't a whole book about them though..."No problem Vanessa, it matched another task and someone else in the group challenge had one. I will make a note of this one in case the task comes up again. Challenges... eh!

That tortured heroes theme must have been a bit of a thing around that time period (5-10 years) ago, a lot of other PNR writers seemed to go through that stage. As Vanessa said, the BDB legacy series is much more like the original books of the series. I think those tortured heroes and paragraphs of description of said torture was what made me move on to other genres. Although I have been reading a bit of Karin Slaughter and her thrillers, I hate all the forensic descriptions but the character interactions between the main players over the series is what keeps me reading.

I started and am up to Chapter 7. I love going back into this world, it's like a comfort read for me I guess. It was clever of JR Ward to start this tandem series which compliments the series proper but has more of a romance theme perhaps.
I like also that we are seeing Saxton..
(view spoiler)[ after being the losing player in the Qhuinn/Blay/Saxton love triangle. It's not very often in a series that we get to read the feelings of the one that's left behind after the HEA. And similarly with Peyton and Nova. (hide spoiler)]

Hope it was okay... (I know your feelings about the BDB, Doug, LOL) but I started a thread for a buddy read for
. For us poor deluded readers who still love the series....

A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thought he’d found his perfect match—until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.
Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody—and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.
As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with an erotic connection that is unparalleled—and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love . . . and cost Saxton everything?

Re -
. I really liked the mythology but the story seemed to be all over the place. And because the Crows didn't shift into the actual bird I couldn't use it for that task in the challenge but it fitted into another one so all good.
Vanessa wrote: "LAB.. I didn't see your post about Blood Fury. I took a while before I hit the button. We should do a buddy read and compare notes."Yes, I'd be in for a buddy with Blood Fury.
Vanessa wrote: "Sharon... I've not read anything from Zoe Parker, have you read her before?
On kindle I am reading His Lordship's Last Wager: A Regency Romance Between Bitter Enemies [bookcover:H..."VAnessa, I just finished this and gave it a solid 3.5 stars. It is a bit different from your average Regency romance , I enjoyed it though I thought it could have been edited and condensed a bit which would have moved it up to a full 4 stars. I also like the quirkiness and wit of Miranda Davis' writing.
And you guys know I still LOVE the BDB and am eagerly waiting my copy in the post. Still a series that I buy in hardback.

Thanks Melindeeloo. I love that Lisa Hendrix series, she's half way through and I eagerly await each book (It takes her a few years between them.. sigh)
Yes, I've settled on the Shelly Laurenston one. Thanks again everyone for your suggestions.

You might try Anne Bishop's Others series. There are crow shifters. The seri..."Thanks, but I've read and enjoyed that series.
Vanessa wrote: "Lisa... I know that you have probably read these, how about Laurenston's The Undoing?
On audio I have been listening to a surprisingly fun mystery..."You know what.. I've never read a Laurenston (Hangs head in shame) so I might give that one a go. But I'll have to start with book 1 first of course, (the need to read in order has not diminished with age, LOL). Thanks ladies for your help!
And the historical looks good as well. My sister gave me a generous Amazon voucher for Christmas so no pain at all.

Psy-changlings! There are eagle and swan shifters. The eagles are mentioned ..."Thanks Foxtail. I've read up to the latest one and I kind of do remember them mentioning the bird changelings out in the west. Lora Leigh also had one I remembered but it's not available on kindle.

Can anyone recall a book where there is a bird shape shifter? I need one for a challenge.
