That brings me up to a mere 21 so far.

22225 Thanks to Looloo and Susan I found a fine solution to some of those books jumping out at me when I went to use my coupon at Borders. I just went to BookDepository and bought them cheaper there. I decided to grab the whole Walker Papers series while I could. With the way things are going, hopefully by the end of the month I'll still have some money left for food. lol

Lucky you, my prob was everything kept jumping out at me, I couldn't decide what to get. In fact, I'm probably going to go back again tomorrow to grab another title I saw if it is still there.

22225 Ok, if I'm not a book buying addict, I don't know what is. Not only did I come home from the library with 8 more used books but I also got sucked in by that %40 off Borders coupon and got myself The Hunt Ball A Novel. I just tell myself its all for a good cause, the used book money goes to the library and I donated two dollars at Borders to the Illinois State Literacy Drive, and that money will end up going to my public library too. I did it for the books, and I did it for the books. :-)

22225 Looloo wrote: "So what is your total for Oct. now?..."

So far I'm only up to 11. But I do have that %40 off coupon from Borders as well as more withdrawing at the library to do so that number is sure to go up. And fortunately, now that I have my two new bookcases up and my books reshelved I now have plenty of room to add new books. Can you believe I actually have one whole shelf completely empty? We'll see how long that lasts. lol

Looloo, you troublemaker. Now I've got another place to be spending money on books. Thanks alot! lol

I'm still finding plenty as it is at my favorite spot, my library. Yesterday, I got to bring home to keep two of my favorites by Chris Van Allsburg:
Jumanji
The Stranger

22225 Borders did it to me again. Not only did they send me a %20 off coupon but I also got $5 worth of Borders Bucks, so of course I couldn't resist going in and getting myself Full Cry A Novel for the incredible price of only $1.51. And add to that four more used books from the library:
Edison Inventing the Century
Dr. Seuss & Mr. Geisel A Biography
All in a Lifetime An Autobiography
Charles Dickens
Which brings me up to 10 so far for October. Sheesh, am I off to a start or what? <:-)

22225 Here we go again. :-) Only the second of the month and I've already come with five used books from the weeding at the library.

Joan of Arc
Muhammad A Biography of the Prophet
They Always Call Us Ladies Stories From Prison
Playing Off the Rail A Pool Hustler's Journey
The Crime of Sylvestre Bonnard

22225 Linda, it was never really stated what that shelf would be used for in this group. I just figured if anyone wanted to put the book they were currently reading on there to share with the rest of us, that was fine with me. This group isn't really one where a group read would come up, I would think. Anyone want to throw in their two cents is perfectly welcome to.

Linda, unfortunately, I have to pay the same price as everyone else, $1 for hardcovers and $.50 for paperbacks. But, since I am often the one doing the weeding and withdrawing, I usually get first dibs, which could be seen as both a good thing and a bad thing. lol

I'm not sure where I'll end up this month. There are no more new books coming out that I want until next year, but I never know what might be getting withdrawn and put up for sale used at my library. Time will tell. :-)

22225 My final total for September ended up being 57. I grabbed one last book yesterday before the month ended: Nine Animals and the Well

How about you all?

I agree %100. Ok, this'll prove I've got it bad. I even like to make my own bookmarks, special ones for use only with certain titles, authors, or genres. I have my Horrors bookmark, my Peter Benchley bookmark, my The Cat Who... series bookmark, my Moby Dick bookmark, etc.

That's what I was thinking! Never mind the bookstore/library, just go to Joseph's."

I already have started my own library, it's just not open to the public. I used to let people borrow my books, but too many came back in terrible condition or never came back at all. Call me selfish if you must, but my collection is mine, everyone else can use the public library. To be honest, I dream that when I die I'm going to donate my library like Thomas Jefferson did his and I want it to be in good shape to do that.

P.S. My total is now 56, I just got The Lost Symbol from Amazon.

Hey, not a bad idea. Maybe we can put together a class action lawsuit among us book buying addicts. Then we can use the money to buy more books! lol

22225 This is why I maybe should not be involved in the withdrawals at the library where I work. Over the last week, we have been weeding the adult fiction collection. I was doing withdrawals yesterday and today and what happens? I come home with THIRTY-ONE new books for my library! Yikes! Good thing I am going out to buy two more bookcases next week. :-)

In no particular order here is the mish-mash of books I brought home:
Dances with Wolves
Three by Truman Capote Other Voices, Other Rooms; Breakfast at Tiffany's; Music for Chameleons
The Silver Wolf
Falling Angels
The Final Solution A Story of Detection
The Bookshop
A Dance for Emilia
The Darwin Conspiracy
Barry Lyndon
Cousin Bette
Jaws
Seize the Day
The Adventures of Augie March
Ravelstein
Humboldt's GiftHerzog
The Horse Whisperer
Alice's Tulips
The Courtesan A Novel
Surfacing
Wilderness Tips
Light in August
Three Famous Short Novels Spotted Horses Old Man The Bear
William Faulkner Novels, 1957-1962 The Town / The Mansion / The Reivers

The Life And Adventures Of Nicholas Nickleby V1 Volume 1 and 2
Hidden Charles Dickens
The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling

That makes FIFTY-FIVE so far this month and there's still four days left in September. Good grief.
