What do you mean, if you had the room?!? Who needs a sofa or bed, you could always sit or sleep on the floor. Get rid of that useless furniture and just make the room! ;-) lol

Being a guy, I don't have a purse to keep a book in, but as far back as I can remember I've always been sure to take a book with me where ever I go in case I have some free time to read. My friends and family actually worry if they don't see me with a book in hand, no matter where I'm at. :-)

22225 I very rarely read more than one book at a time and I also very rarely do not finish a book I've started, it has to be really awful for me not reach the end of it.

Me too! That's part of my addiction "problem." I just have to have complete series, and they're not always series I like to read, I just like to have them, like certain mystery series like P.D. James or Sara Paretsky because they're classics, that sort of thing.

King's "The Beekeeper's Apprentice" is a a great start to a great mystery series. She has the next book in that series coming out in April.

If you haven't read it already, you're going to really like The Girl with the Pearl Earring. Cevalier does great art-themed historical fiction.

22225 Amy, I definately suggest The A.B.C. Murders. I'm not a big fan of Mrs. Marple, I prefer Poirot, but another mystery that is neither of them that was a great Christie is And Then There Were None.

22225 Picked up another interesting read used from the library: Baseball by the Rules: An Anecdotal Guide to America's Oldest and Most Complex Sport. That brings me to 9 now.

22225 I just learned that Half Price Books http://www.halfpricebooks.com/ will be opening a store this summer nearby and that they buy as well as sell. Anybody every shopped at these stores? Care to share what you think of them? Thanks.

22225 Thanks, Looloo. It looks like I'm kind of getting back up to speed. I bought another 3 books from the library today.

22225 I'm kind of fortunate and unfortunate in the same breath. The nearest used book stores for me are in the city, none in the suburbs that I know of. But there are plenty of local public libraries with used books for sale, and I can resist dropping in to see those when I'm in the neighborhoods.

22225 I picked up 4 more used books from the library.
Take Me Out to the Cubs Game 35 Former Ballplayers Speak of Losing at Wrigley by John C. Skipper The Chicago Cubs (Writing Baseball) by Warren Brown Mystery! A Celebration; Stalking Public Television's Greatest Sleuths by Ron Miller and Egypt (Country Fact Files) by Emma Loveridge

22225 Welcome to the group, Candiss. I know exactly where you are coming from. Anytime I visit a library, I can't leave without looking over the used books they might have for sale. You say you like used books AND online shopping? Then you might want to check out a new site I learned of not too long ago: www.thriftbooks.com sells used books online. A nice combo, huh? I've only placed one order with them so far, but the book came in about a week and a half, not bad service IMO.

22225 Just when I thought I'd have to suffer the pain of actually going the whole month without a single new book I got my order of The Sound of Blue: A Novel by Holly Payne from www.thriftbooks.com delivered. Hooray! :-)

22225 Christine wrote: "Congrats! That is impressive. Have you read all of them??"

I'm afraid not. I'd say about one third of my collection is nonfiction, reference stuff you don't really read cover to cover. The rest of my collection is fiction, one third read and one third unread. I'm just as much a collector as a reader.
