21757 Minority here. I loved the book. I liked the premise (obviously), and I loved how everything worked. It's a first book in a fantasy series, so there were a lot of bits and pieces that didn't fit particularly well. But those didn't bother me because I'm hoping they'll come into play in the next books, especially Spike and Thursday's father. I also loved the silliness and the humor - it's right up my alley.

The only thing I didn't like (and I totally guessed the way it would work in the book), was the Shakespeare thing! Hate, hate, hate! I'm a firm believer in Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare, and while this book didn't cram Oxford or Marlowe down my throat, the solution was equally horrible. That, and boy toy Landen. He was just there. Thursday had more chemistry with her pet dodo than with that douche. I'm just going to pretend that there was no romance.

21757 Hey Sandy! What do we do if we can't find the author birth-"date"? I mean, I really want to read Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (born 1971) for Year of the Pig, but that's all I can turn up - the year. Do we ignore such authors altogether?

And have a fantastic vacation!
