213642 No love! Ack! :)

What books, that are not yet planned to be a Movie or TV Show, do you want to see made into one? Who would you want cast as the characters?

The Night Circus!! But only if it was done correctly and they left nothing out and they made it more wonderful. :) I had a list of cast I would have liked, but forget most of 'em. Someone like Mila Kunas for Celia and Liam Hemsworth for Marco. Molly Quinn would be a perfect older Poppet, but I couldn't really say who I'd want for Widget and Bailey.

Also hope to see The Butterfly Garden made into something. It's been optioned but I think everything is, so that doesn't mean anything.

What book is a stand alone that you really really need a sequel for?

The Night Circus!! So much more could be done. she hasn't written anything since. :(

Used book stores ~ do you love 'em? What are the ones near you like? What's your favorite one you've ever been to?

I love 'em, though the one in town here is SOOOOO expensive. Paperbacks are $6+ and Hard Covers are $10+. I prefer the thrift store where all books are 25 cents!

The best one I've been to was in Winter Haven, FL. It was in the 90s I went all the time and it was pretty big. paper backs would usually be $1 and hard covers a bit more. But they had a great trade in programs so you'd get store credit for bringing in books. Miss that place.

213642 Missed this day, stupid storm! :/

What upcoming book (or recently released book) are you most excited to read?

I was really eager for Artemis and flew through it, it was quite enjoyable. Now, let's see, I'm most eager for the next Kingkiller, but that might be years off yet. And I'm eager for the 4th book in the Cemetery of Lost Books series to be translated and come out in English. Most of the stuff I really want is a long ways in coming, like the next Lock In book and sequels to books I recently read that I loved.

Who is your book crush? (You know, the person that gets you all excited and you'd love to spend some time with! Now wait.... "all excited" doesn't have to mean in a lover kind of way!) ;-)

LOL. I don't have a book crush. I don't do the whole "book boyfriend/girlfriend" thing. My all time favorite character is only in one book, so unless I re-read it over and over I can't spend time with him often. :) So yeah, I guess I'm kind of weird. But to continue with Angie/Ashley's theme, if I went with the Shadowland Doms, my guy from them is Nolan. :)

213642 This post didn't get any love. :)

I don't think I really go looking for anything, though I do typically notice when the title is mentioned.

Certain quotes jump out at me, usually grief quotes. I have a bunch saved on my profile. Light-hearted quotes that are my favorites are ~

"The Circus arrives without warning." ~ The Night Circus

“Being human totally sucks most of the time. Videogames are the only thing that make life bearable.” ~ Ready Player One

And most everything from The Martian including ~ “Message reads: 'Houston, be advised: Rich Purnell is a steely-eyed missile man.” and “I’m pretty much fucked. That’s my considered opinion. Fucked.”

213642 For all my chatting on this thread, I never did answer the questions myself. :)

Who are some of your favorite authors? What book(s) got you into that author?

Well, I've already mentioned Matthew Reilly and Ice Station was the first book I read of his. I've now read all he's written and have loved almost all of them. For anyone wanting to try him out I recommend The Great Zoo of China. If you enjoy the WAY WAY over the top action of it, then you'd like most his work.
My favorites have changed around so much. I'd have a favorite then they'd go write something I didn't like and I pretty much don't read them anymore. That's happened several times now.

I love the In Death series by J.D. Robb and I read a good chunk of anything Nora writes. some of it I don't like, but most is great. I've read most of Jeremy Robinson's books, there's just one series of his that I haven't read that doesn't really interest me. He's a lot like Reilly with insane action.

I love Cherise Sinclair, she writes BDSM the right way.

What author(s) do you wish could/would write more?
I wish Reilly wrote more. He's about a book every 2 years type guy. But I just want more cuz I love his stuff. I only (at the end of last year) read Patrick Rothfuss so I can't imagine waiting all these years like most people have for the 3rd KingKiller book. He's amazing though and his writing process is crazy.

Any author you wish would write less?
Patterson. But every once in a while he comes out with a gem. Murder Games was one. He says The Black Book was his best in years but I haven't tried it yet. Might need to.

Recommend one book you read, at least a little of, on day 5.

We're hoping everyone will like it. We wish we could grow fast enough to do any of the team challenges we're working on, but that just hasn't happened yet. Hopefully these group ones will be different and capture everyone's interest.

I'm all about the theme parks so working in The Night Circus would be an ideal job for me. It's be so beautiful and magical, I'd love it! :)

213642 Knew there was another way to find authors, forgot to mention it. Adding to the Resources post, post #4, but a good way to find author names is Fantastic Fiction where you can browse authors by last names.

213642 While my teen years I would have loved to spend at Hogwarts, I'd most want to travel with Le Cirque des Reves ~ The Night Circus. While I couldn't do any special acts, I'd just love to be a ticket taker or do concessions. Though I wish we lived in a world with Warehouse 13 (tv show). I'd really love to live/work there as well.

If I had more time, definitely do more reading and gaming. On an Overwatch withdrawal right now. It's been 5 days since I've played and it's gonna be at LEAST another 3-7 depending on shipping. Argh!

Of course not playing Overwatch hasn't helped me read much more, well once BARC's BARC ended. I've mainly been working on challenges and getting "Return to Hogwarts" ready to go. :D

213642 Have you tried Beverly Barton? She wrote some paranormal abilities (like psychics) romantic suspense. Her long series was good and started with After Dark.

Brett Battles has a time travel series that is good. It started with Rewinder.

Here's the Top 200 Books Published in 1999 according to GoodReads.

Some various ones I read that were published in 1999:

Baby Love (Kendrick/Coulter/Harrigan, #1) by Catherine Anderson Temple by Matthew Reilly Ashes to Ashes (Kovac and Liska, #1) by Tami Hoag River's End by Nora Roberts Blaze by JoAnn Ross The Tower by Gregg Hurwitz The Titanic Murders (Disaster Series, #1) by Max Allan Collins Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8) by J.D. Robb Trust No One by Christiane Heggan The House on Olive Street by Robyn Carr The Quiet Game by Greg Iles

213642 I usually wait til others post before posting, but wanted to tell this story. It's the most heartwarming thing I've ever witnessed, well that didn't happen to me (or because of me). It's a bit of a long story and I cry every time I tell it. I have never written it before but I'm sure I'll cry anyways. It's not a sad story, but a joyful one. I'll spoiler it, just cuz it's gonna take a while to explain.

I think everyone should go to the Parks at least once in their lives, Disneyland if possible. Disneyland just has a different feel to it than then Magic Kingdom does. It's magical. But any theme park is a trip worth doing many many times! :)

213642 I'd never say it in so many words, but often to my Hubby. I don't mean it in a mean way, which is why I wouldn't say that, but my Hubby has memory issues because of a stroke and/or the seizures He had years ago. It's not awful but He doesn't remember trivial stuff and sometimes doesn't believe me when I tell Him something because He thinks it's different.

Nope, don't know any riddles.

213642 Longest book for me was Odyssey by William Shatner , 1,072 pages

I never go to the library anymore. My last few years in FL I went at least twice a week, often more. But up here our little tiny library is pretty crappy. I used to go through to see if they had any sales when I'd walk back from downtown. Now, they moved it up the hill about a mile, it's almost all uphill from here so I only walked up there once and it was torture. So, never go.

213642 Hey Suzanne, in my one house I had all the cupboard handles as the white Mickey gloves. Loved those things!

I'm not sure what is wrong that sounds right. Usually it's the other way around in this society.

Not much of a decorator anymore. Used to be that I had all Disney stuff, when I (or my ex) worked there and we could afford such things. Had a very Disney kitchen at one point.

Our "decorations" here are mainly pictures I colored and hung on the one wall. We did find an old time football and baseball hangings at the thrift store and have those up. A friend bought me a cute set of hangings that I still haven't put up. I need to get that done!

213642 Years ago I worked for a special events company. I was told, at one point, that one day the company would be mine, as the owner's daughters didn't want it and I did. That didn't happen. I would have loved it.

If I had to come up with something on my own, probably a sex toy store that catered especially to women. Nothing sleazy, somewhere they could go and be comfortable buying and asking questions and learn it's ok to express themselves sexually.

Hate clothes. Have very few, and all of it's comfortable. If I was skinnier/smaller I might have a bit of a sexy/sensual fashion desire, but I'm not and clothes are too expensive. Plus, even if I was skinny, I still have LARGE feet and no one has good shoes for women with big feet! :/

213642 My "family", and Jesse's really too, have disowned us. Not in a sense of they have crapton of money (they don't) and we don't get any, just in the sense that we have no family. They are nothing to us, as we are to them. That includes my birthmonster, my older half siblings and Jesse's mother.

That is a hard one, and I don't know. Have financial security? Have a normal life?
Jul 16, 2017 08:07AM

213642 I'd rewind time.

It depends. Sometimes the littlest things can set me off and I'm pissed for a while, other times I can deal with big stuff and it doesn't phase me. Just depends, but I'm quicker to lose it than I'd like to be. Luckily, Jesse and I rarely quarrel, so it's usually something else I'm pissed off at.

213642 I am a Sour Patch Kid addict. Have been since H.S. Of course they have shot my tongue to crap! I have zero taste buds after eating some. :D

Hard one. I'm a mountain girl to live, but love love the sea. Love to swim, love to dive (though we only ever got certified, never got to go on a real dive), love cruises.

I think I'd do well living in the North West Coastal area. Something Like This would pretty much be a dream home for me. Tucked onto a cliffside, no one around and amazing sea views. Yeah, if I ever win the lotto (which we don't play) I'm moving to this place! :D

213642 Hey Cecily!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I've had internet issues. :(

The spirit of the challenge is to do everything in order. I'm not going to be a bitch about it or anything if you want to do it a different way. It is your challenge after all. But it's meant for everything to be completed in a cascading order, from top to bottom, just like a waterfall.

If you take the example I have, then it's meant to be done like:

Tier 1:
Read Ten

Tier 2:
Spell out "Ten" with books starting with T, E & N
Read Tattoo, [THEN] read Endure, [THEN] read Need.
----> Can't start any on Tier 3 until all of Tier 2 is done in order

Tier 3:
Spell out "Tattoo", "Endure" & "Need".
Read Turn Coat, [THEN] Ash, [THEN] The One, [THEN] Till Death, [THEN] Oft, [THEN]Only Us
Read Empty, Never Never, Deep, Uglies, Reign, Empathy
Read Night, Earnest, Endgame, Driven

Tier 4:
Spell out "Turn Coat", "Ash", "The One", "Till Death", "Oft", "Only Us".....
Continue as long as you would like to go!

=================================

So it's up to you. If you want to mix it up, as I said, I don't plan to be bitchy about it. It's like with another person ignoring Articles. Nothing really I can do about that, for these individual challenges. They are meant to be HARD but if they are TOO HARD as they are meant to be, do them how you wanna.

Just so you have fun is what matters.
