208213 I haven't gotten my copy yet, I think it came in while I was away so I missed it. I put it on hold again, hopefully I'll get it soon :( I'm going to read it and come back to the thread though regardless of when it comes in! I'm so behind in my reading this month!

208213 Hopefully you can find something that appeals to you! BTW, the recommended books are just that, feel free to read a book that we haven't recommended.

Picnic is a beautiful film, I LOVE it so much. Very dreamy and unsettling. I still want to read the book, I'll have to do that at some point this year!
208213 I still plan on reading The House with a Clock in Its Walls if anyone else wants to join me. Eli Roth adapted it with Jack Black and it's coming out late this year. I'm also reading it as a buddy read in another group, so I plan on starting it over the weekend.

208213 So for those who read it, what do you think was going on with Nell?

(view spoiler)

I really liked her as a character, and i could identify with her in her moments of anxiousness and fantasy thoughts early on in the story. i also could relate for her desire of liberation, to break free of confinement, (view spoiler)

i started out liking all the characters and then at the end i wanted to reach through the pages and shake them. Esp Theo!

the ending gutted me, i didn't expect that at all. (view spoiler)

208213 because of your comment i was picturing Ruth the whole time as Nell lol. my god i wish she was playing Eleanor for the series!!!!!!!!!

208213 I JUST FINISHED

book was brilliant.

best opening paragraph of all time.

i can relate to Eleanor in many ways. Damn, I feel for her. An amazing literary character. I don't mean that in terms of personality but how she was written. So often in horror "character" gets thrown out the window. But we really got to know her and to be inside her head. The story was truly terrifying at times.
