It was for Betrayal. It was two stars, which according to goodreads' star ranking system means "it was ok" but she said there were a lot of inconsistencies in the characterization. Is there? (If so, I need some tough love (constructive criticism) here, people.) Or is this just one of those examples of someone who just doesn't like my writing? Sheesh, I'm always second-guessing myself.
I should take comfort in the fact that I've had many, many lovely compliments from many lovely "goodread"ers. Four days ago, Betrayal got a 5-star rating from a complete stranger which was a shocking and wonderful surprise. (It's always nice when you know someone is reading your work and they update along the way as they read and you know you will be receiving a positive rating/review from them. When one comes out of the blue, however, it's indescribable.)

I totally agree, Sharon. This group definitely goes above and beyond to support each other. :o)
Now, if only I can get Todd to join. He is the #1 supporter of other authors...
:o)

Have you considered putting your book on the Kindle?

It's not even that her book is uninteresting; quite the opposite, in fact. For some reason, I seem to think I should force myself to speedread everything I've got, all at once. It's insane, truly insane.
The worst part: I haven't written or edited or proofed or read anything of my own in several days--until this morning. I was beginning to feel so lost. :o(

Excellent! :o)

Here's the deal: I have this list of "to-reads" that I have promised to review and I have been pressuring myself to get them done all at once. My husband tells me this isn't fair to the authors to whom I made the promises. I need to read one, giving it all my concentration, review it, then move on to the next one in my list.
My apologies to the excellent authors of these excellent books. My first promise was to Dee Marie, so Sons of Avalon: Merlin's Prophecy is the one that will receive my undivided attention--book-wise, that is. (My children DO require my attention occasionally.) :o)
Here's the rest of the list, just FYI:
Dee Marie's Sons of Avalon: Merlin's Prophecy
Sharon Cathcart's In The Eye of The Beholder: A Novel of The Phantom of the Opera
Kgcummings' The Wind Whispers War: A Vietnam Love Story
I apologize to all of you for any delays, but I want to be as fair as possible.

That's great! Congratulations and welcome to the group! :o)

Super! :o)

Very cool. Thanx for sharing, Terrie!

Yes. Actually, she gets into some trouble in Heartless. As usual. :o)

Here's my four (kindle versions):
Betrayal
Blurb: Running for her life, Bri finds herself in a situation that she cannot escape--under the power of Adam Prestwich. Returned to the clutches of her money-hungry family, she tries her best to endure the petty cruelties and indignities inflicted on her by her family. When the abuse becomes too much, she must rely on her friends to save her even though she has done everything in her power to drive them away. Adam Prestwich is keeping secrets. Owning a title he'd rather not acknowledge is the least of them. Falling in love with a woman he despises quickly becomes the worst of them. When the actions of her family again place her in his care, he must distance himself to avoid an entanglement that would cause nothing but misery.

Redemption
Blurb: Miles Prestwich is in love. The object of his desire is Lady Guinevere Northwicke who is, unfortunately, the daughter of a powerful duke--who also happens to be a very loving and protective father. Believing his suit to be unworthy, he tries to forget and limits his interaction with her. Then his twin brother arrives in Town. Darius is everything that Miles is not. He drinks too much, gambles too much, fights too much, and doesn't care a rap for Society or its strictures. When the lovely Lady Genevieve Northwicke catches his eye, he ignores the warnings fired at him from all corners, resulting in the death of that lady's reputation. Rather than facing the consequences of his actions, he flees. Miles must resolve the situation the only way he knows how: offer marriage to the sister of his beloved to rescue her from scandal. But will his action actually solve the problem? Or cause more misery than anyone could possibly imagine?

:o)

I just followed your link from facebook and saw that Heartless is number five in romance. Who knew? :o)

The sales aren't the best but I haven't really pushed it yet, either. The most copies I sell are Kindle books through Amazon.
