Just like we need to vent occasionally, we need to celebrate, too. :o)

Have some exciting news to share with the group? Start your thread here. We like to celebrate, too! :o)

Maybe it's 'cause we all got in on the ground floor, so to speak. :o)
I wonder if some of our other group members feel intimidated by some of us and are scared to post?? In other groups, I have found myself nervous to jump into a conversation unless I am pretty well acquainted with at least one of the more prolific posters in the thread.

Now, I know I'm not always going to please every judge, but in hindsight I think the story was stronger before I tinkered with it prior to send-off. :-/ Of course, I can always go back and remove the changes I made, but it doesn't alter what I sent to this contest (and to one other where I entered the same story).
Anyone else deal with this kind of "author's remorse" over their work?"Heck yeah. I can't really elaborate on that but I know exactly how you feel. :o)

It really helps you see who your true friends are as opposed to the freeloaders who "befriend" anyone they think they can use.

Ok, I did the whole social RSS thing. I'm not sure yet how I feel about it, but, whatever. I haven't got a clue how to do a blog linky-do in Notes. Then there's the fact that I'm incredibly boring as a human being--hence the reason I make people up in my head. Living vicariously and whatnot.
So what kinds of things should I post to the wall? What are snapshots and how do you do them? Is posting on the wall really the only thing you can do with a fan page? Who actually sees the updates? All the fans? My friends, too?
Sorry. I've never felt so lost in my life. Except when I first signed up for facebook. Odd...

I read somewhere that the only one who should get a free copy of your book is your mother. I had to laugh when I read that. My mother has a copy of each of my books and she has only read a few chapters of
Betrayal so far. She told me she doesn't like it. "It's too dark." I laughed.

Especially if you're an 'author' trying to break into a predominantly 'reader' group. Keep trying if it's a group whose theme is something you feel very strongly about. Eventually, when they realize you are not there to 'sell' them something, they'll relax.

Holy crap, Gina! You were GIVING AWAY copies of
Utamaro Revealed? Where the heck was I? Oh, yeah. I didn't know you then. :oP
As for a real job, my husband has a dream job for me: A beer wench at Medieval Times restaurant. I have to say, I would love that job. But the closest one is in Chicago--I think. (I live in northern Michigan.) That would be a bit of a commute...
Jaimey wrote: "And goodreads won't let me update my status or use the reply and preview buttons for posts."I take back that last complaint. Goodreads seems to be working normally now. :o)

Twitter still won't add people I click to follow. It was working better for me last night.
And goodreads won't let me update my status or use the reply and preview buttons for posts.

I like to think so. :oD

New complaint:
Is goodreads acting wonky for anyone else? And twitter? What is this, Wonky Wednesday??

Great, Kathy! If you want to go the simple, less expensive route (PDF exchange), I'm game. :o) I have a few ahead of you at this time but I should be able to get to it in a couple of weeks...I hope.
Oh, and I'd like to start with book Three. Just kiddin! LOL ;o)
I'll message you with my email...

If they are pdf files, how do you prevent the receiver from printing out and handing them out on street corners? Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area. I'm 60 and willing to learn the ropes! My pdf files are mine but in the form of a galley. Would that be acceptable to exchange? Thank you all for any feedback to enlighten this gal. kgc"We are discussing PDFs. :o)
I have my PDFs "secured" against people copying words or passages or making changes, etc, but I do allow low-res printing. My program will allow me to prevent printing, too, but I know some people like to print them out and read away from the computer.
New question: What's a galley?
Oh, Kathy, I have pbs in my possession now if you still want to do the pb exchange for reviews. :o)
Madison wrote: "Do you get an Amazon author page if you are digital or does everyone have an author page whose book is made available?"I'm not sure. I would think everyone who has a "book" available would get an author page. You have to sign up for author central to edit your page.
https://authorcentral.amazon.com/Here's my page:
http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B002BM7QUW

That just means the romance is set in early 1800s Britain.

Did I ever mention anywhere that my feed finally went through on my Amazon author page? They like to pick and choose which posts to include. I hate the new setup.

Social RSS?

I had a new complaint last night that I can't remember this morning. It was a good one, too. So now I'm going to complain about losing my mind. UGH!
Thersa wrote: "I just started "Betrayal" and what a lovely beginning. Truly in the middle of the action. Already I have a dozen questions! Definitely a page turner.
t"I've gotten that reaction quite often, actually. But when you start a Regency romance with the heroine in prison, it makes people wonder. A lot.
:o)
