As an adult reading (or rereading) children fiction I often find obvious foreshadowing that I missed as a kid. I think it is intentional by authors to introduce concepts such as foreshadowing to young readers, who are not yet used to looking for it while they are reading.
Good luck Kerri! I am usually ahead on my reading goal, but I still need to read 20 books before the end of the year. we'll see.

Coraline was very aware of the fact her parents still loved her even after a whole day when they didn't have the time to play with her.
