If each one posts in a different way (cover vs. link, same line vs. different lines, bold vs. not bold, et.), it sometimes becomes harder for who is sum checking or managing the challenge to find the information.
This may look simple, but after hundreds of messages, believe me, a standard post helps! :-)
So, if you care to make life easier for your mods, checkers, volunteers, etc., you can use the following template with code for posting in this challenge. :-)
1. Add book COVER as instructed in message 1 above.
2. Copy the text between the lines - but NOT the lines (---------).
-----------------------------------------------------
January 31
XXX pages
<*b*>Total Group Pages: SUM HERE<*/b*>
-----------------------------------------------------
3. Paste it under the book cover.
4. Change the month, the day and XXX for your correct data.
5. Change "SUM HERE" for your addition result.
6. REMOVE the four asterisks (*)
The result should look like this (without the lines, of course):
-----------------------

January 1st
835 pages
Group total: 4,900 pages

HOW IT WORKS
Post a comment (on the LAST COMMENT PAGE) with the following four things:
1) the COVER of a book you recently read (see below for instructions),
2) the date you completed reading that book,
3) the number of pages in the book you read, and
4) last but not least, sum of all pages read by the group.
ANYONE can post AS MANY TIMES as they want! This is a group effort, folks! You can enter books read for the bookclub AND those read outside of the group.
THE RULES / SOME TIPS
1. How to add a book cover
On the top right of the comment box, you will see a hyperlink "add book/author" (in English).
At the bottom of the window that appears, you'll see two radio buttons "link" and "cover" - please select "cover".
Type the name of the book in the search field and once you click "search", select the correct book. The code will look like the following without the *: [*bookcover:The Catcher in the Rye|5107]
2. How to decide your page count
If hardcopy, use the number of pages in the edition of the book that you read.
If electronic (kindle, nook, etc.), use the number of pages from the kindle edition.
If you listened to a book on tape, use the number of pages from the most popular edition on Goodreads (when you search a book, the most popular edition is the default).
No genre or page length restrictions, and can be book club group reads OR books you've read outside of the group.
3. Books per post
In general, books per post should be one book as you would be posting the book you most recently finished, but feel free to add more if you have finished multiple books recently!
This is a running tally, so please don't wait and post 20 books at once... wouldn't be much of a relay!
No need to post backdated books. Just start from the day you entered the relay =)
4. Make sure you are on the LAST comment page
As this is a running tally, make sure you are on the LAST COMMENT PAGE before commenting as you want to add your pages read to the last total.
Above the comment box, you'll see the hyperlinks for every comment page, will look like "<< previous 1 2 3 4 5 next >>" or something like this - make sure you're on the highest number. Goodreads only allows for 50 comments per page.
5. Please double check the math of your post total!!
F.A.Q's:
Do partially read books count?
No, you need to finish the book for it to count. If you DNF (do not finish) a book, it won't count.
LET'S RELAY!!!

Ready for a new read in 2025? Need to reduce your Want-To-Read Bookshelf too?
This game is a fun way to choose your next great book. Let someone else do it for you! Here’s how to play:
1. Look at the latest message. Browse through their Want-To-Read list and select a book.
2. Reply to the message with your book choice, tell why you chose that book, and indicate you are ready for your new assignment too.
3. Check back for the next message, which should provide your book assignment.
4. Read the assigned book and repeat steps 1 to 4.
Remember, only post when you are ready for your next read. This game is a great way to find new books that you might enjoy, reduce your own TBRs, and make new GR friends too.

Thank you so much for being our prefect Laura!
I really loved being on the Emerald team this year💚 All the questions and discussions were a lot of fun and made this year's challenge more memorable!

Who would you recommend for comics? I have always wanted to get into comics but never know where to start"
Sorry for answering a week later. This month has been going by so quickly!
I'm not picky about what genre of audiobooks I listen to. I do get through them a lot faster than physical books though, so I do prefer longer audiobooks most of the time.
I wasn't into comics until I started dating my husband. He has always been into the typical superhero Marvel and DC. I would go to the comic shops with him and was surprised to find that there are quite a lot of horror comics. I still haven't read much superhero ones, but I absolutely loved the Spider-Gwen, Vol. 0: Most Wanted? series by Jason Latour! As far as horror goes, I definitely recommend The Walking Dead: Compendium One by Robert Kirkman It is so much different from the tv show so you don't have to worry about spoilers if you've watched the show and in my opinion the comics are so much better! Wytches, Volume 1 by Scott Snyder is a good short horror series. Saga, Volume 1 isn't horror or superheros but is definitely a must read! Not a comic, but The Complete Maus is the best Graphic Novel I've ever read and the best memoir about WWII I've ever read.

I try to keep up with the books of the month here in this group, so I read a lot of contemporary fiction although I don't really like most of it. I do really enjoy reading the classics though! I would say my favorite genre is non-fiction. Specifically, I love Biology themed non-fiction. Anything about animals or plants is my favorite. Horror is a close second though.

November's round robin scores:
Emerald 30.88 vs. Saphire 35.92
Diamond 26.00 vs. Ruby 58.42
💙Great Job Saphire and Ruby!❤️

1. Ruby 109.00
2. Saphire 73.32
3. Emerald 61.76
4. Diamond 56.74
Congratulations everyone we've read so much so far this year! We still have 3 weeks left in the challenge, good luck to all teams. I hope you end your year with some new favorites!
