Updated message #14 and I noticed message #17 has updates although he hasn't posted that he updated yet.
Can you believe the first week is over already? It has been a great start! Here are the current standings:Hearts: 7.14 vs. Clubs: 7.67
Spades: 6.55 vs. Diamonds: 5.4
As you can see Clubs has a slight lead over Hearts and Diamonds is working hard to catch up to Spades. I suspect these numbers will change a lot. It is still anyone's game!
@Sarina -If it is mostly words with just a few illustrations it should count for full points. For example something like Harry Potter has an illustration above every chapter, but would be counted for full points.
@ Saar, sorry I missed this...It looks like it is about 2.5 hrs. long. Googling average times per pages it looks like about 25-30 pages per hour. I agree that that makes it 1 point and not .5. Yes I think not adding pages to the total is the best way to do this without over complicating things.
Thank you Saar, but just so you know, you don't have to post in this main thread. I am checking all the house threads regularly :)
Welcome to everyone who just joined! As always, this challenge is always open to new participants. It is never too late!
Mariana wrote: "Hi! I have a doubt. Does Middlemarch count as 0.5pts for the challenge if read during this months?"Because the Middlemarch Read-a-long is meant to be spread out for a more in-depth discussion and it doesn't end until February it will not count for any bonus points.

Many of us are just hours away from the start of the 2022 House Cup Challenge and for some of you it has already started! I just wanted to wish good luck to all the houses, and let's get reading!
So excited for tomorrow! I usually have a physical book and an audiobook going at the same time. I am going to start off with The War of the Worlds (gotta get that extra .5 point!) and Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New YorkSome spooky books I love:
Honestly there too many I could list. If anyone wants more recommendations for a specific genre let me know. I love true crime and have a couple other non-fiction recs. also have a few YA and younger spooky fiction I really enjoyed. As far as thrillers go, I love anything by Ruth Ware or Shari Lapena (they aren't literary greatness but they are very entertaining!)
