The Modern Team and Classics Team threads will be posted on June 1st. All books must be started after June 1st and finished by June 30th. However, don't feel like you have to stick with just one team! If your first pick was a classic and now you want to choose another book, but are drawn to the modern/popular books, no problem! you can log points in both team threads!
If you have any questions please post below, and let us know what you are planning to read. If more people are reading the same book the discussions can go on for longer and we can earn more points!

the derogatory comments about women bothered me a little too. I felt that this is just going to age worse and worse over the next few decades, but I also feel that it gives a very honest and raw perspective of how sexuality was treated at the time. To that extent I think there will always be historical value to this book. I also thought maybe the way his fiancee was portrayed was the way David personally perceived her. Her character was very much what society's idea of a woman was at the time and not very intimate or personal like how David describes loving Giovanni. So maybe this was symbolising how David couldn't love a woman as much as a man even though he wanted to?
