Unlikely, cause the snake is just one of many, but the Druid chick has a snake tattoo (with others) that she can shapeshift to, and that saves her/them at some point. She also can add spells to tattoos that protect the tattooed person. Nothing comes to life from those tho, I think it's more of protection from mind control. Others of Edenton...?

The only one it makes me think of is an elf one. She's an elf and they are sent on a mission to save 'the tree'. It goes for books and books I think and intertwined with other stories in the post apocalyptic world.

Aerulan, Murderbot looks good. Funny, I never think of myself as reading these types of books, but turns out I read quite a few and have enjoyed most of them. Will have to go thru everyone else's suggestions too ;)

They are going after the 'hibernating' ship that is sentient. The next book is almost out which should have more of the ship... I do t think it talks, but has a personality and communicates with one or two of the characters...
Now you've brought it to mind tho, it fits that scene tho? She's looking around, no lights, drinks unknown alcohol from the fridge, a little (pet?) alien comes out to meet her and I think she thinks it's attacking her and she runs and hides... In the massage machine. She fumbles buttons with out realising, and the tentacles attack her cause she's set it for sexual massage and intense, and she can't get away from it until the H saves her and explains the machine.

This one has a massage machine that the h accidentally sets to sexual & and extreme... Don't remember any sisters and the H is the alien. Have a deal with earth to hunt their mates on earth. I couldn't finish it tho, so could have missed things.

C Gockel, Archangel Project series. First one is Archangel Down... 5th is coming out next month. Most of the first story line is wrapped up in the first 3. Not sure how many GR's it has.
