This is a brilliant idea. So many times I’ve got a basic memory of the book someone was looking for and am sure I’ve read it. When I finally stumble across a possible book... I can’t find the thread.

I’ve now got a list (somewhere) of possible books in case the thread pops up again.

This is a big maybe, because it is basically erotica/romance. Each book is based on one poly/group, and almost all are tirades or above. Most are polyandry, so more men in the groups than women. Lots of human/alien-of-different varieties matches, some human/humans. On earth and off.

If you can look around the sex, the world these author have built is great. The stories are awesome and just about all the characters are well done. There’s all sorts of politics, problems and adventures. The last few books have been struggling imo, but the first 10 or so are some of my favs. I’d love to see this series on screen.

Search “3013: series”, as there are 3 different authors writing alternate books.
