I haven’t read this one so I’m not sure on details, but I did read Christmas at the Castle, which is a few books into the series. Brief appearance and mentions of the bachelor prince and his wife who he chose from the crew of the reality show instead of the cast a few books earlier. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
It was only a few years ago I ‘really opened up’ to make authors. Before that, I’d read a few, but outside Dean Koontz, James Patterson and a couple of others, I found I generally didn’t like male authors. It was the way they either sexualised things that didn’t seem to need it or the way they referred to things. Sometimes they would ‘see’ a situation in such a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT way from the way I was viewing their scene, I found it hard to relate and adjust to their style. I noticed quite a few indi’s who don’t go in for the whole professional edit would give me trouble. Maybe there wasn’t the balance I could find??
Anyway, saying that, until a few years ago, knowing the author would have been female / male would def have helped me sort from either the look-ee or the look-er side of things.
I’ve eased up heaps of the years, and have only found one recently that kept slapping me in the face with ‘male author’.
The weirdest combo I’ve seen is a middle age(?) male author, writing a teen girl lead... I couldn’t get my head around how he was going to pull that off. In the end, I loved the book and there was really not many problems with it.
Cool, thx. I’ll keep trying. It’s a great idea. I’ve ended up reading heaps of random books to cover challenges and enjoyed trying outside my norms. This should be similar :)
Hmmm, I tried again about 10 times and it kept leading me to random books... as you might have guessed ;)Problem is, they truely are RANDOM in the largest sense of the word. Bizarre titles and not one of them had a rating or review.
Is this just a string of bad luck? Were you getting anything that might come close to interesting?
Maybe... It’s been a while since I read it, but I don’t think these are spoilers. Think they’re all at the front end of the book.
She’s long term hooking up with a good friend and thinking they’ll end up together, when he lets her know after a session that he won’t be able to see her for a few months until he gets his new wife sorted, but he’ll see her at the wedding.
The she meets his step(?) brother, and he agrees to help her make the brother jealous... but his intention is to win her.
Very long shot as it’s not actually a RH, but there is the ghost element... and I’ve had too many ‘long shots’ pay off to not mention one jic. Black Heart

That sounds awesome. Is it a kids book or a novel? If it’s not a novel, some author should pick up that story and run with it! Following.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Mortality Bites. The gods beam a message to everyone along the lines of thanks, but we’s outta here. Then everyone left on earth (vamps, fae, humans, religious icons I think) all trying to figure out wtf.
I loved it, but think I only read book one cause the rest aren’t on iBooks.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...The Ancient Future trilogy. There’s a LITTLE bit of that in this series. The gods are backup characters mostly and humans are evolving to immortality and I think it’s book three where there is really some ‘don’t be a dumb ass god who needs us to solve your problems!’
CM Owens has a thing for SC’ed and some that got away in most of her series. This is first book in one series, but they all cover it.

This one and the sequel cover start crosses and the ones (2) that got away, they are HR tho. Salt Bride

Just cause this came up in another thread today... probably counts as star crossed lovers, but beware, only 6 black released... bk7 has been stalled for years so no final conclusion. Heller

If it is the Heller series, it is good. But as I said, final book has not materialised and it’s been several years now. And it left on a cliffhanger. Knowing that you won’t get the end might make it easier to swallow the loss tho. Still worth the read if you don’t mind spending the money on an incomplete series. Think the first book is usually free on some of the eplatforms.
(Another series LIKE this one with the bumbling h is the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich).
