You’ll probably need to add a few more of the definitive details in the header. People tend to bypass the generic ones and the mods are cracking down this year because the groups so big.

Likely iBook (oz)
Possibly part a series
Set in USA
Spoilers ahead
- Group of friends, some from when they were little (5-8ish), now early to mid 20’s I think
- When they were little, boy1 and younger sister (h) move into new street where boy2 lives with younger brother (H)
- boy2 & boy1 make friends and boy2 start to leave younger brother (H) at home, because it’s ‘big kid stuff’
- boy1 tho insists his little sister (h) goes everywhere with him
- until the moment the little brother (H) starts getting left out, he liked (and maybe LIKED - as a little kid) the little sister (h). Then she was just someone who got to do things he was left out of... and he became a prick who hated her
- flash forward to adults... I don’t remember specific college or careers, so not quite sure exactly how old they are, think the h may be slightly younger than the others (under 21?)
- the H LOATHES the h still and is a complete and utter prick to her at all times and has been all their lives
- they were all living in the same house (boy1, boy2, H & h... maybe another one or two). Possibly someone inherited it or had some sort of trust fund... maybe they are house sitting for a travelling family member...?
- there were at least a couple of house parties and some of the random and not so random women (girlfriends?) coming thru were usually assholes to the h as well.
- I think at one point at a party, someone makes a general comment or something about the h and the H says something really mean and sends her running (to the FwB)
- there is a scene where one of the women openly treats her like shit because ‘everyone knows the H HATES her and only lets her live there and tag along because of her brother, he’ll love us joining in’ and the H overhears and losses his shit, throwing the woman out. There may have been a bit of ‘only I can treat her badly’ crap, but maybe that was the wake up call where someone points out he DOES treat her like shit and people pick up on that.
- the h... yes, she has unfortunately always been in love with the asshole H even tho he treats her like shit
- yes, her mother/parents have ALWAYS treated her like shit and that was why the brother(boy1) always kept her by his side
- she has some kind of (maybe ex boyfriend) friends with benefits, BDSM relationship with one of the guys (jackasses) they all knew from high school? He rides a bike and knows she’s not into him and only comes to him for the release she needs after being treated like crap by the H
- it’s def some kind of BDSM she’s into (ropes/spanking?), and I think there are some in the moment scenes, but it’s not a BDMS book or a huge part of the storyline overall I think.
Big spoilers...
>>>>
- one of the brothers is determined to help the h get over the H (and the FwB), so he sets up a date at one of the parties with instructions to make her forget about the H... the douchbag takes that to mean sex and rufies her to ease things along. Pretty sure the H was the one to notices she wasn’t quite right or as a last ditch effort she threw herself at the H to try and show something was wrong. They call his mother who’s a dr to come and check her out to avoid the hospital both for legal (she’s on drugs) reasons and because it would send the h’s psycho mum into a frenzy if the no good daughter brought attention and shame to the family... even tho she was attacked not simply using
- The h was the child of an affair the dad had and when the mother died, the wife was made to take the baby in. The wife’s son/boy1, fell in love with his little sister as soon as she was brought in the house, but was too young to put all the pieces together, so none of them knew any of that until later in the book/adult life. He just knew she was safer when she was with him, so kept her with him whenever he could.
- At one point something bad happens and she takes off with the bikerFwB, and shortly after everyone heard the biker had been in a crash and the girl on the bike had died
Random things that come to mind...
- The older brothers (and probably H) were all cool/popular kids and maybe into school sports/jocks?
- Curly blond hair for h? Big bows? Loves purple? Might’ve carried a blankey when they first met as kids
- The H’s parents love her to bits and she spent a lot of time with them as a kid
- h runs / drink drives to them when the shit hits the fan and she finds out about her parents
- Father may have been wanting to be closer to her and tell her for years, but scorned wife kept the screws on and made it so she ‘had control’ of her as a kid and father had to do as she wanted or else. Don’t think anything was physical, but maybe boy1 pretty much looked after (fed/cleaned etc) her from the get go because the wife was willfully neglectful.
- Father ended up showing her a box of her MOTHERS stuff? His secretary?
Thanks for looking, sorry for the babble ☺️

They light up a herb one of the guys stole from his ‘dr whatever’ dad, and while no one else gets anything but a high, she trips into the future where it’s bad.

Along the lines of... “Do you have a Christian Grey complex? I’m telling you I’ll scream, call the cops and pepper spray you if you try and show me your red room”.
I know I’ve read plenty of others that have similar type references and was wondering how many we could find. It seems to be a 20teen gen pop reference these days.
SOLVED. YA Young girl is shifter and trying to hide it from new foster family. Spoilers ahead. [s]

Mod, could you please SOLVED this thread next time you’re passing by? Thanks.

I will add that one to my notes too. That’s much easier to differentiate the two than wading thru all my posts each time.
You mods are legends! Thanks :D

Using h/H as ‘names’ when names are missing is a quick way of ensuring everyone knows you’re talking about the h/H, and not he/she’ing all over the place, and trying to weed out when you’re talking about a support character either.
Feb 29, 2020 06:14PM

The h/H is a quick way to refer to h= heroine and H= Hero. There is a ‘short hand’ thread somewhere that explains the different types of abbreviations. Things like FYI, jic, HR & iirc.
The one that always tweaks me is MC. To me, that’s Motorcycle Club... but people also use it as Main Character, so that one always takes me a second to translate ;)
